Hi I'm Nancy H Phillips

I grew up in Oregon, graduated in nursing. I found the church, found a husband and had a family. We are Mormons.

About Me

I am a 73 year old retired registered nurse and wife of a 77 year old retired attorney. We are parents of two grown sons one 45 years old and the other 44. Before I was married I searched for a church that I could believe in. My older sister and I grew up wanting to do what was right but I really wasn't raised in any church. I went to nursing school and worked for a few years but had only one date in that time. Finally my sunday school teachers Brother and Sister Phillips wanted me to write to their son who was handicapped with cerberal palsy and had graduated from college and worked in the Patent Office. We wrote to each other a short time and then he flew to where I lived and shortly proposed to me and we were married in the Salt Lake Temple. That was 46 years ago and after we had 2 sons, adopted an Ethiopian son, and had 9 grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I wanted to have the faith I saw in my room mates in college. I searched for a church I could believe in and it wasn't until I toured temple square and was taught about the God Head being 3 separate beings but one in purpose that I found something I could believe. I took the missionary lessons and with in the year I finally realized I had my answer that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was true. I was 27 years old then and it took years for me to develop the feelings in my heart that prompt me to contribute my profile to this web site. I finally understand how the scriptures and conference talks by our modern day prophet President Monson are a spiritual compass for me. I have discovered for myself that if I regularly try to have a sincere prayer to Heavenly Father pleading to have his spirit open my heart and help me receive the message and teaching, I am touched and my spirt is lifted. That is a marvelous thing I desparately need in these troubled times. I try everyday to live His commandments and to renew the covenants I made at my baptism regularly at Sacrament meeting. I have been working at that for years and it is just lately I have learned to have this relationship with the scriptures and conference talks and the Holy Spirit. I am so grateful because what ever age I am I still want to radiate the Spirit of Christ and be a strength to my family and those I have contact with. I am in my seventies now and that has its own challanges.

How I live my faith

I used to work nights full time in order to be home during the day with my kids until my husband retired on disability and we moved to Provo Utah. We were welcomed by our new neighbors across the street when we first arrived to our new home in Provo. They were Latter Day Saints or Mormons and had the most beautiful music in there home when ever I knocked on their door. She was the most motherly women I had met till then. Shortly I met a much older women who was delightful who was to be my visiting teaching companion. She taught me years ago how she used to go visiting teaching on horse back to out lying areas. I soon became converted to Relief Society which is the womens group of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. There I have met and served with some of the best women in the world.
