Hi I'm Mark Andelin

I operate a cattle ranch in Idaho. I love to drive my Percheron draft horses and invest in real estate. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been happily married to the love of my life for 37 years. We have 6 sons and 16 grandchildren. I enjoy the outdoors, fishing, hiking, racquetball, tennis, and ping pong. My passions are real estate investing, riding horses with a job to do, driving my team of Percheron draft horses, exploring the world, and ranching. I have raised canaries, ostriches, emus, yaks, dogs, horses, and now I am happy to stick with cattle on our beautiful ranch in Idaho. I am a happy man because of the gospel of Jesus Christ,my wife and 6 wonderful sons and many grand kids.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family and heritage that has been in the church since the 1800s but like all new converts I, too, had to gain a testimony of the truthfulness of this church. This came through diligently following the principles of the gospel, putting them into practice, and seeing the blessings that came to me from doing so. I also know that the Book of Mormon is true by virtue of a personal witness received after reading it. I continue to read this inspired book. Why do I live this religion? I have raised my sons in the church because I believe it is the best way to live a happy life. Sure we have had challenges. When our house burned to the ground and we had to reconstruct, we were blessed and quickly realized that material things are not as important as the world says they are. That which truly matters is our family, our faith, and our friends. When the flood came six months later and damaged more of our precious things, like our journals and picture albums, we learned more fully about the love and tender mercies of our Savior, "...who knows ... how to succor his people in their infirmities". Our family looks back on those times with great appreciation for the lessons we learned and the strength we gained. This has helped us to better help others. Living the gospel is truly the best way to bring up a family. It is fun and very rewarding in that the blessings that Heavenly Father bestows are so great that there is not room enough to receive them. I wouldn't do it any other way.

How I live my faith

I should probably mention that I pray each day, morning and night. I attend church each Sunday. I try to be honest and kind to others. I also enjoy serving others. Before I was married, I served for two years as a missionary in the countries of Guatemala and El Salvador with money that I had saved. Many if not all good things that have come to me in my life are a result of this service to my Lord and Savior. I taught an early morning gospel class to high school kids. I have also served in the Boy Scouts of America and have coached my son's soccer team. One time in my real estate business, when my company owed a large sum to an individual, that person forgave me the debt. I have had a chance to do the same. I have enjoyed helping others anonymously. My wife and I served for 18 months as missionaries in Santiago Chile at our own expense. This we count as one of the greatest experiences in our life. During that time two of our sons were married and two new grandchildren were born while we were away. The Lord blessed us and our entire family for this service in ways we cannot describe adequately here. I have great joy in seeing my children raise up their children in the gospel of Jesus Christ. I want to always follow in the path of the Savior.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Mark Andelin
The Book of Mormon is another testimony of Jesus Christ and is a record of his dealings with the people of the American continent. This record came from the translation of gold plates by the prophet Joseph Smith who said, referring to the Book of Mormon, ..."that a man could get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts that by any other book". I have found this to be true. I love the teachings about the Savior's atonement in the Book of Mormon. I love the great prophets of the American continent like Nephi, Benjamin, Ammon, Mormon, Moroni and many others all who testified of Jesus Christ and his gospel. I love the description of the great plan of happiness contained in this book and the overall promise about this great land, that whosoever keeps the commandments of God will prosper in the land. The account of the Savior's coming to this land is powerfully moving and will leave the reader of the Book of Mormon with a feeling of the great love God has for all his children no matter where they live. The simplicity of Christ's doctrine is comforting and the promises contained in this great book are inspiring. If you want to have a deeply moving and uplifting experience, I invite you to read this book. Show more Show less
