Hi I'm Nate

I've run three marathons. We're raising three kids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I are doing our best to raise three beautiful children. We're trying to build a family where our children know they are loved, have self-esteem, learn to excel, value education, and become self-reliant. We're trying a make our home a place where our children will grow up with a knowledge of and a love for Jesus Christ, a desire to have a family of their own and to serve others. One of the things we enjoy doing as a family is hiking. We're not fancy. The kids are still young, so a day hike or two of three miles each is pretty much what we can do. I make up stories for them to keep them entertained and going! I'm a CPA with an MBA. I consult and teach seminars for medical practice managers on Business Intelligence. I've run three marathons and enjoy surprising family members with fun activities.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a Mormon. My family has been members of the church for generations. I stay a Mormon because I know that this is Jesus Christ's church on the earth. The Mormon church has blessed my family and continues to make a major difference in our lives. I stay a Mormon because my wife and I chose to be married in a Mormon temple and we believe that if we do our part, that temple marriage will allow us to be with our family not just in this life, but in the next. My wife has lost both of her parents to death, and knowing that family relationships will exist after this life is comforting to us. I stay a Mormon because I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet, that the Book of Mormon is the Word of God, and that we have living prophets today. I know that as I follow Jesus Christ and His prophets, serve in the church each Sunday and serve others every day trying to follow the example of the Savior, my family and I will be blessed.

How I live my faith

As a couple, we try to instill Christlike values in our children. We take them to church weekly. We each have callings in the ward, which is a neighborhood group in the church, and fellowship our neighbors through these opportunities. They help us as well as they serve in our ward. We also try to teach our kids at home by reading scriptures and spending time together as a family.  Since we live close to a Mormon temple, my wife and I go there often to worship God. We have found that going to the temple has blessed us with peace, revelation, and specific direction in our lives.
