Hi I'm Jared

I work in education. I'm a friend, father, husband, and a Mormon.

About Me

After graduating from high school, I started working in the technology industry while attending college. I currently work in education as a Technology Specialist. I am currently working on a Master's Degree in Educational Technology. I married my high school sweetheart, and we will soon be celebrating 14 years of marriage. Last year, we were able to adopt a beautiful baby girl. She truly brings joy into our lives, and we are so blessed to have her. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, and with being from the south, I also enjoy eating good food.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a Mormon. Growing up I relied on the testimony of my parents that the gospel of Jesus Christ was true. My testimony of the church and its teachings has continued to grow as I have read and prayed about the things that I have been taught. I have experienced many faith building experiences throughout my life. On one occasion, as a young boy, my cousin and I found ourselves lost in the woods not knowing which direction to go in order to return home. With it getting late in the evening and nightfall looming, we decided to pray and ask our Heavenly Father for help. Shortly after that prayer, we were able to find a landmark that helped guide us home. At that time I knew that Heavenly Father was truly listening to my prayers. As a young man, I attended early morning seminary. Here my testimony continued to grow as I studied both the Bible and Book of Mormon and the teachings found within these books. The blessings that come from being a Mormon are unexplainable. I know that God does live and that he did indeed send his Son to atone for our sins and that he did die for us that we might live. Knowing that we do have a prophet on the earth that continues to receive direction from our Heavenly Father, as in olden times, provides a comfort like no other. I am grateful to the gospel and for all the blessings that it offers.

How I live my faith

Every day we are challenged and must choose what direction we want to go. This is part of God's plan, for us to choose whom we will serve. I live my faith by remembering Jesus Christ and the love he has for me. I serve as Second Counselor in the Bishopric. Although this can be challenging at times, it is also very rewarding. I have seen my family be blessed by the service we give in the church. I invite all to come unto Christ and share in these wonderful blessings that are offered to all.

What is faith?

The scriptures tell us what faith is: And now as I said concerning faith—faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true. We must have faith in order to believe in Jesus Christ. I have faith in him and his restored gospel. Through his teachings, every one of us can return to live with him if we are obedient to his gospel. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

In the bible, Paul speaks of baptism for the dead when he states: Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead. We know that as in Christ all shall be resurrected. We follow the example of the Savior and his own baptism. That everyone must be baptized by proper authority. We believe that the same priesthood that John the Baptist held has been restored to the earth. It is through this authority that all of us can return to live with our Heavenly Father as stated in John 3:5 including those that have already passed. Show more Show less
