Hi I'm Christine

I'm a wife, a mom, a landscape architect, a seamstress, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the mother of two fabulous teenage daughters. I love to design parks, trails, and landscapes and work part time from my home. I love to sew and quilt and always have a project or two or three in progress. I joined the church when I was 18 and it has changed my life forever.

Why I am a Mormon

I learned about the church from a good friend and his family in high school. I was baptized when I was 18 years old. The thing that was most interesting to me when I first learned about the church was it's high standards. I really respected that and wanted to learn more about the church. From there everything I learned just made so much sense to me and brought me a sense of peace. Now it is many years later and I my testimony has grown greatly. I know that our Heavenly Father has a plan for each of us and wants us to learn and progress. I know that our Savior, Jesus Christ, sacrificed himself for our sins so that we can be cleansed of our sins and return to live with Him and our Father in Heaven. I know that when we keep the commandments, pray, and read the scriptures we can have the Holy Ghost with us which brings us comfort and peace in whatever circumstances we are in.

How I live my faith

I love to attend church on Sundays. I am always uplifted and inspired by the speakers, music, and lessons. I have the opportunity to teach a Sunday school class of 6 year olds. They are so cute and it's fun to see them learning the stories from the scriptures and learning that their Heavenly Father loves them. I love how our church gives every person the opportunity to participate through speaking, teaching, leadership, or other service. This truly helps us to follow the Savior as we learn to serve others. I also live my faith at home by reading the scriptures and praying with my family daily. We try to keep a spirit of gratitude and love in our home and these activities really help us to remember what is most important to us.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

The priesthood is the authority to act in God's name on the earth and is given to male members of the church only if they are living their life in accordance with the basic standards of the church. This is a special assignment and responsibility that our Heavenly Father has given to men. This however does not prevent women from taking on leadership roles in the church. Women are very strong leaders in our church and lead both as individuals and as partners to their husbands in many situations. There are many, many wonderful women leaders in our church from the local level to the international level that motivate and inspire church members all over the world. Here is a link to a recent international conference and some of our women leaders speaking: http://lds.org/broadcast/grsm/0,6220,285-1-41-1941,00.html?lang=eng I love to listen to these women leaders. They are very inspiring to me. Show more Show less
