Hi I'm Susan

I'm a Mormon. I have found true happiness and peace in my faith and I'd like to share it with you!

About Me

I live in Arizona. I love to snow ski and yes, there are ski resorts in Arizona! I also love to read, hike, sing, dance, and laugh. I love to learn too. I have learned American Sign Language and to speak Spanish in the last decade. I am pursing a master's degree in Multi-Cultural Education with an English as a 2nd Language Endorsement. Although I was born in Arizona, I have lived in Hawaii and Alaska. I have done many exciting things in my life, but the most challenging and rewarding adventure I've had has been raising my wonderful sons. The principles and standards in the Gospel of Jesus Christ have helped me immensely to find happiness and joy as a wife and mother!

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was raised in a home where my parents actively practiced their Mormon faith, I felt I had to develop my own conviction that what my parents taught me was true. I took a challenge from a seminary teacher at age 14 to read The Book of Mormon and pray about it. I received a warm feeling in my heart, peace in my soul, and the words came to my mind, "You already know that it is true."

How I live my faith

My faith is part of my deep culture, and it is woven into my everyday life through daily personal and family prayer, daily reading of the scriptures and words of ancient and modern apostles and prophets, trying to emulate the Savior through service to others, and sharing what I know to be true with God's children who I believe are my brothers and sisters.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

The Mormon faith empowers women to lead and to maximize their full potential. I don't believe I have to emulate men to accomplish these goals. I was taught by my father, mother, and church leaders that men and women are equal, that it is equally important for women to get a good education, to develop their talents and abilities, and to be involved in civic affairs. Children are also highly valued in our faith and meeting their needs and nurturing them is not looked down upon, but regarded as an ennobling and important work. This quote hangs on my refrigerator regarding women - "Woman is God's supreme creation. only after the earth had been formed, after the day had been separated from the night, after the waters had been divided from the land, after vegetation and animal life had been created, and after man had been placed on the earth, was woman created and only then was the work pronounced complete and good. Of all the creations of the Almighty, there is none more beautiful, none more inspiring than a lovely daughter of God who walks in virtue, who cultivates her mind and enlarges the horizon of her understanding, who nurtures her spirit with everlasting truth."
