Hi I'm Ali

I'm a Mormon. I'm a Northwest girl at heart- growing up in Washington and Oregon, and now live in OC with my two boys and husband.

About Me

I am a "heart" mom to one miraculous 2 1/2 year old boy and I have another boy that is just five months. I am absorbed in all things "Mom", but I also enjoy photography, running, blogging, and a little craftiness on the side. I grew up in the northwest and love the rain and don't mind the cold, but I currently live in Southern California and the mild seasons of sun all year long is growing on me, as well as is the constant access to the beach! My husband loves to surf and sail and though I can't even balance on a surf board, I have recently learned that sailing is a hobby I just might be able to share with him!

Why I am a Mormon

I was lucky enough to be "born in the covenant" as they say it...both my parents were raised with the values and beliefs of the church, and made the decision to teach me and my four sisters the same beliefs and values. Throughout my life, I've had experiences that have tested my faith, and turning points where I've had to make decisions on my own. With each big or small decision that I've made where I've chosen in accordance with the values I was taught, my testimony of the Gospel, of the Lord's promises, and of the covenants I made with Him when I was baptized, has strengthened. It's been at my weakest and toughest times that my testimony has been strengthened the most. (Most recently, it was taking the journey of our first born son undergoing three open heart surgeries before the age of one that has tested me the most and made me grow in a major way.) I know that The Book of Mormon is true. I know we have a living Prophet on the earth today. I know my Savior Jesus Christ lived and died for us, and that He lives again. I am thankful for the records that we have of His life, ministry, and death. I'm thankful to know that it is because of Him and through Him that we can return to live with Him and our Heavenly Father again. I know that Joseph Smith restored the Gospel here on Earth and that he was a prophet. I am thankful for the sacrifices he and so many others made to preserve the truth that was revealed to them and give it to future generations. I know that I am a child of God, and that my Heavenly Father hears each and every one of my prayers. I know that the promises we make with our Heavenly Father in the temple are true and sacred. I know these things because of the peace and the comfort and the reassurance I feel when I pray about them, and study them. I know that when I am doing things in accordance with my beliefs and values, it is when I am the happiest and have been the most blessed in my life.

How I live my faith

My husband and I try and fill our home with daily prayer and scripture study. We pray every morning with our boys before he goes to work, and before bed, we read the scriptures and pray together too. It's been incredibly faith building to teach our almost three year old boy how to pray and the importance of the scriptures in our lives. Every Monday night we have family night and we usually do a small lesson to teach him a gospel principle in as simple way as we can and then we try and do something fun too. (His favorite part is the activity and treat at the end!) We attend our meetings every Sunday and during the week, I serve in my ward as a leader to the 8-11 year old girls. Twice a month we meet on Wednesdays after their school hour and do fun things to try and build the girl's relationships with each other, and their testimonies and faith in the Gospel.
