Hi I'm Terry.

I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am an Administrator. My interests are many and diverse but a few are reading, music, languages, biking, snowshoeing and Highland Dancing. I have travelled around the world and enjoyed amazing experiences everywhere I have been. I am a daughter, a sister, a wife.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a different Christian church and had a very strong faith of the reality of God and Jesus Christ but as I grew older I found that what I knew to be true and what that church taught did not always agree and I found that the church changed based on modern society's demands. I concluded that religion was man-made but that my faith was real. So I decided I did not believe in religion. When I met my now-husband he asked me to investigate his church. I did - for four years - and in that time realized that the truths that were missing in other religions could be found in the LDS Church. I have felt the Spirit so strongly in this Church and was baptized in 2009.

How I live my faith

I am a teacher in the Relief Society (women's group) of my ward. It is always a challenge when I prepare for these lessons, I wonder how I will be able to teach in a way that others will understand. But having this calling has taught me how to teach others and most of all, I have learned so much more about the gospel through revelation while preparing the lessons that I feel that I am the one who benefits most!

Are Mormons Christians?

Absolutely. Our church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints - it is established here on earth today as Jesus Himself established the Church on earth in His time. Our first Article of Faith is that "We believe in God the Eternal Father, and in His Son Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost." Unlike other churches, however, we know that each of Them are separate and distinct beings who have unity of purpose. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

It is another testament of Jesus Christ. Just as the Old and New Testaments of the Bible document the words of the ancient prophets in the Middle East, and the birth and death of Jesus Christ, the Book of Mormon documents the words of the ancient prophets in the Americas and the visitation of Jesus Christ to these people. Having travelled to Israel and Jordan and seen the caves and the Dead Sea Scrolls myself, the possibility of there being many more other scriptures or documents other than those compiling the Bible is very real to me. What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

We lived as spirits before our time here on earth and as spirits chose to come to earth because we understood that there is a purpose to mortal life. We chose to house our spirits in a physical body in order to experience mortal life and all that comes with it. Our purpose here on earth is to learn and develop ourselves; to exercise our agency - our ability to choose right from wrong and accept the consequences of our choices; to prove ourselves worthy of eternal life. We will have challenges, heartache and sorrow - it is part of the plan. But from these experiences we can become stronger and experience great joy, and we prepare ourselves for resurrection and Eternal Life. Show more Show less
