Hi I'm Michael

I have been a Latter-day Saint my whole life. I am currently serving a mission with my wife in New Zealand.

About Me

I am a husband and father, living in northern Utah. My wife and I have six children and five grandchildren. I am an anesthesiologist, and love my work. My hobbies are hiking the beautiful mountains of Utah and amateur astronomy. I also serve on the Varsity Scout committee for the Utah National Parks Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Each year I am in charge of a great scouting activity called "Operation On Target" where many boy scouts hike to the top of the mountains in Utah and signal each other with special signaling mirrors.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were members of the Mormon Church, and I was baptized into the church when I was eight years old. However, I have gained my own testimony of the truthfulness of this glorious gospel, and of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have had numerous wonderful, spiritual experiences which have strengthened my testimony. I served as a missionary in New Zealand as a young man, I have held many callings in the church, and have enjoyed being of service to others my entire life. The Book of Mormon has been and continues to be the "key to my conversion". The spirit has witnessed to me the truthfulness of this inspired book of scripture. Any honest seeker after truth can have this same witness. My wife and I are presently serving as Spanish language missionaries to a wonderful Spanish ward in our community. We feel the love and blessings of our Heavenly Father every day.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by being of service to my fellow men. I love serving in the various capacities of the church, and I am currently a Spanish language missionary, serving in a Spanish ward in my hometown. I try to be patient, gentle, kind, and Christ-like in my interactions with my associates, both at work and at church. I am respectful to my wife and children, and try to set an example of virtue and righteousness in all aspects of my life. I study the scriptures and words of living prophets every day, and seek to live worthy of the guidance of the Spirit in my life.

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

As Latter-day Saints, we are blessed to be led and instructed by apostles and prophets. These are inspired and duly-authorized men who have been called of God to lead his church. Our current prophet is President Thomas S. Monson, a kind and loving brother who has devoted his entire life to building the Kingdom of God. He served for many years as an apostle in the leading quorums of the church, and was sustained as prophet in February of 2008. I accept his words and teachings as truth, just as I do the words of the scriptures. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

The beauty of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ is that all sincere people can truly know of its truth. For me, the key to knowing of the truth of Mormonism is the Book of Mormon. This inspired scripture makes the promise that if we read it with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, the Holy Spirit will reveal the truthfulness of the book by the sweet whisperings of the spirit. I have received this sweet revelation, and am so grateful for it. Knowing that the Book of Mormon is true also confirms that Joseph Smith was an inspired prophet called directly by God, that the restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ was divinely directed, and that the true priesthood of God, or authority to act in His name, has also been restored.
