Hi I'm Annette

I'm a mother of 6, a middle school art teacher, and choir director. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the Los Angeles, Ca area. I now live in Oklahoma. My husband and I have been married almost 25 years. We have 6 children that are almost all grown up now. I was a stay at home Navy wife for 14 years. When my husband retired from the Navy we moved to Oklahoma. At age 36 I decided to return to college to became a teacher. I had the great opportunity of marching in my college marching band with my son. I started out as a music teacher, both band and choir, but in a strange twist of life I became an art teacher as well. I love to read, play music and of course make art projects.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church, but recieved my own testimony as a teenager. I took the time to figure out why I believe in our Savior. What I have found over the years is that He is my best friend. That he knows who I am personnally. That he rejoices with me and blesses so many areas of my life. I also know that when things are tough he cries with me and comforts me and at times protects me. I have learned through the gospel that it is easier to follow the commandments than to have to clean up the mess I've made for myself when I don't. I also know that at those times that I do mess up, my Savior is willing to forgive me and help me repent. It is a comfort to know that he loves me enough to want to see me return home to Him and Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I am currently the leader of our local women's organization. I help women in our congregation and our community to grow stronger both personally and spiritually. I also feel that by volunteering in my community I am also serving my Heavenly Father. I am involved in our Band Booster organization and in Boy Scouts of America. I have great opportunities to help the needy and uplift those that are having a hard time. This is always easy to do because some is always doing it for me too.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Annette
I have found that my faith in Jesus Christ has saved my marriage many times. First of all my husband and I have made a point of making the Savior a central part of our marriege. We pray with our family, but we also take time to pray together. During my time as a Navy wife I was very comforted to know that my husbands devotion to our Savior was even stronger than his devotion to me and that because of this he found being faithful to our marriage was most important to him. We also believe that we are married for eternity. By keeping this in mind, when we go through a rough spot in our marriage we remember that in the time line of eternity, this is a really short time and we can get through it. The same goes for our whole family. No matter how bad a time we are going through with the Saviors help and a uniteed family we can face anything. Show more Show less
