Hi I'm Melissa

I'm an effervescent, Californian social worker and sister of two. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a family of two brothers, a mom and a dad. My parents are from El Salvador so we grew up speaking Spanish, eating pupusas, and dancing at every holiday. I attended BYU Idaho and graduated in Sociology. Soon after graduation, I started a Master's program at USC in Social Work. I have been working as a therapist and now a medical social worker for almost four years.

Why I am a Mormon

The gospel brings me peace and happiness. Knowing that Christ is my best friend gives me great joy and understanding in his plan for us after death. The Savior suffered for our short-comings, he felt our pain - physical and emotional too. Having someone I can trust completely with knowing how I feel makes it okay to have to overcome difficult trials we will encounter in this life.

How I live my faith

One way I live my faith is by caring for those around me - whether they're my family, friends, members of my congregation, or my patients at work. Jesus Christ lived a life full of serving those beside him, and in turn, loving them unconditionally. I have learned that being aware of those in need, providing a listening ear or a calming voice is similar to what the Savior did for his followers.
