Hi I'm Ben Bishop

I'm a husband and father. I'm a world traveller. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been a dad now for a couple of years and I love every minute! I love travelling, music, serving others, and doing small remodeling projects around our house. I recently completed my MBA at the Georgia Institute of Technology and am happy to have more spare time to spend with my wife and daughter! I work full time in finance for a major airline, so we enjoy visiting family and friends that we've made around the world. I've flown to more than 50 countries and even crossed the Atlantic Ocean on a tall ship! One thing that surprises people about me is my enthusiasm for Boy Scouts. I participated in Boy Scouts as a young man and loved the activities and lessons that i learned during those years. I love working with our young men because i can see the character-building principles that the Gospel of Jesus Christ teaches. It's amazing to take part in helping them realize how amazing they are. Now that I'm serving as the President of our new Spanish Branch, I have a chance to help our members understand the importance of the Gospel in our lives. It's great how the Lord puts us in situations that offer us growth and learning, so that we're prepared when He asks us to serve in other capacities. It's amazing to watch as these wonderful people learn of Christ and try to follow His example.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon and proud of it! The gospel of our Savior offers us the chance to really understand what our purpose is on earth and how we can serve others and do good throughout the world. We believe in Jesus Christ, and we strive to be like Him. The Church has helped me understand how I can do just that. I find peace and joy in knowing that the Lord has provided scriptures, prophets, and the Spirit to help me come closer to Him. I'm motivated to do the right things because I know that I will be together with my family if I follow His commandments. It's so reassuring to know that we are guaranteed amazing blessings if we do what He asks! I've been thinking a lot about this since our daughter was born. I love holding her in my arms and knowing that she came from the same place that I did, and that she's destined for wonderful things in this life and beyond. The best thing about the gospel is how it allows us to step back and see the eternal perspective of everything. I know that good decisions that I make now will give me joy forever. Can you think of anything else that will last forever?

How I live my faith

Living my faith is not a Sunday only activity, even though sometimes we may wish it was! I live my faith by being active in our congregation. That means showing my love for my fellow members, participating in the choir, visiting other families during the week, and providing a shoulder to lean on when times are tough. Working with the youth of the church is a really fulfilling job. It's fun to tell them stories from my life that can help them be stronger followers of the Savior, and I'm always impressed at the things that I learn from them. They are learning that following the Lord also means being a force for good in the world, and I love that! The best part of my current calling is knowing that the Lord chose me to do the job. That's how things work in His church; our leaders are inspired to call us to positions that will not only help us to serve others, but that will help us grow and develop our own testimonies. It's such a blessing to work with other members of our congregation who are also called to do their part in making the world a better place by spreading His gospel. Living the gospel is a full-time job, but it's really rewarding!
