Hi I'm Doug

I'm Deaf, I play the flute, I sing, I am serving a mission in Rochester, New York, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am deaf. I love music. I can play the flute, piano, violin, and organ. I prefer to play the flute. I also can sing. I love to read books in general. I also love writing music and stories that express my feelings. I am currently serving a two-year mission in American Sign Language. My first language is American Sign Language. I am also fluent in English. Who says you can't be proficient in two languages?

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up in the Church. My parents are both members of the Church. I didn't stay in the Church because of them. I stayed because I have experienced my own little "Sacred Grove". No, I did not see God and Jesus Christ like Joseph Smith did, but I do know that he did see God and Jesus Christ. I know that if we asked God and He Himself wanted to show Himself to us, He could make it happen because He has the power to do it. He created this earth. I know that He loves us and that because of His love for us as His children, He wants to communicate with us. I know that we can talk with Him through Prayer. True, It may seem like we are talking to no one, but Heavenly Father does hear us and He does answer our prayers. All we have to do is have faith that He is listening and that He will answer when we are ready for the answer. He knows me. He knows you. Talk with Him and let Him know that you know He knows.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following what I learn. I help others (no matter who they are) in any way that I can to help them see God's Hand in their lives. I show my faith by living my beliefs. I do not say I believe something and then go and do something that is against that belief. For example, I believe that our Heavenly Father loves each and everyone of us. I share that with everyone by showing them my love towards them. It is hard sometimes, but I always try my hardest to always love everyone as God loves them and me.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Doug
No, we help everyone we meet, Mormons, Christians, or those who don't believe in God. We help everyone we can because Jesus Christ has said to love everyone and I believe that that doesn't mean only those of our faith. It means everyone in the world. Show more Show less
