Hi I'm Sidreis

I am a daughter of God recovering from a sexual addiction and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello! I am 38 years old, a wife, a Mom of three wonderful boys ages 13, 9 and 2. I live in Utah where I work part time and go to school. I love the outdoors - swimming - hiking - playing ball with my kids. I love music, all kinds and have a strong appreciation for cinematography. But mostly I love spreading the hope and grace of Jesus Christ through the LDS Addiction Recovery Program. You see, I am also a daughter of God recovering a sexual addiction. I have struggled with my addiction since I was a young girl. In it's wake I was left feeling hopeless and worthless and I often wondered why God even created me, for I felt He did not love me. I came to find out however, through the LDS Addiction Recovery Program, that I am a beautiful daughter of God and that through my Saviors grace, I could be healed. I have been working the program now for almost 3 years and have been sober for just over 2 years. I now share my story with others through my blog at www.bythelightofgrace.com. I want nothing more than to share the beautiful and priceless gift of hope that I have been given.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of His church since I was 8, but only have recently gained a very personal and strong testimony of the truth of His plan for me. Through reading the Book of Mormon and having the Spirit instill a sure witness of it's truth I have learned of my Heavenly Fathers plan for me. I know I am His daughter and that He loves me; loves me enough to sacrifice His only begotten son for me. I know His plan is divine and it allows for me, even in all my imperfectness, to return to Him. His plan is perfect in that I can be washed clean from the shame of my sins through proper steps and can hold my head up high at the last day and know I am worthy to be in His presence; to be home. This path is not easy at times, but it is well worth it.

How I live my faith

I am taught to love my fellow man and to serve them; that charity is the pure love of Christ, so I am very enthusiastic about serving in the Church and in the LDS Addiction Recovery program in any way I can. Currently I am called as a Family History Consultant in my ward. I have a very strong testimony of family history and how important it is to research and find loved ones to help them make the covenants necessary to return to our Father in Heaven. I am also called as a facilitator for my LDS addiction recovery group. I live my faith by adopting principles of the gospel and living them in my everyday life. I learn these principles by studying the scriptures, praying and being dilligent in attending my church meets as well as studying and applying the 12-Steps in my life.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Sidreis
This life is a trial, a test of our faith, to overcome temptations of the adversary, stay true to the teachings of the Gospel and return to our Heavenly Father, through the atonement of Jesus Christ, with a free conscience, knowing we have done our ultimate best to do what is right. What is the Church’s position on abortion?

Sidreis
Our purpose on this earth is to multiply and replenish the earth; to provide bodies to those spirits who have not yet come. Anything not conducive with that principle would not be promoted by the Church. Show more Show less

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

Sidreis
Thomas Spencer Monson... and he is GREAT!! He exudes so much love for each of us. I feel so blessed to be led by someone who is so intune with Heavenly Father and our needs at the same time. Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Sidreis
Yes; in fact, some of my favorite scriptures that help me out of my dark moments come from the bible. I especially love Psalms. I love that King David spends all his life after his rock bottom singing praises to his Father in Heaven... this is something I strive to do myself. Show more Show less
