Hi I'm Becky

I love tennis and trees and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently attending college and majoring in Social Studies Education. I love sports especially tennis. I also like basketball, volleyball and bike riding. I enjoy reading and am a big fan of Harry Potter as well as many other books. I love discovering new things and learning more about life.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it's the best way to live, there's nothing better. I've been one my entire life and never plan on changing that. I love the people who are Mormons and the examples they set for me and others around them. I live without harmful substances in my life and stay healthy. I know that I am part of the true church and it guides me in my life. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that it is the most true and correct book. It teaches me new things and gives me new understanding. I know that Thomas S Monson is the true prophet today and that he gives us counsel from God. Being a Mormon makes a difference in my life everyday and it's a huge blessing. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ will always be there for me. No matter where I'm at I know I'll have someone to turn to in times of trial. I know that they will always love me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending church every Sunday. Also every six months I watch General Conference. I'm able to hear from the Apostles, the Prophet and other general authorities. They are inspired by God and know what they need to tell us to help us in the future and in our lives. I love hearing what they say and admire their strength in the gospel. I read my scriptures daily and write in my journal. By doing this I'm able to learn more about the scriptures and take in the things that they say. The Book of Mormon is amazing and I learn so much through the written words. Through journal writing, I'm able to record the things that go on in my life which I'm grateful for later when I go back and read my entries. I pray to my Heavenly Father for guidance, for people in my life, and to express what I'm grateful for. I participate in my church callings and enjoy doing those. I attend the temple as often as I can to perform work for the dead through baptisms and confirmations. I'm working hard to make improvements in my life and hope to be a good example to those around me.

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

Becky
Baptisms are performed for those who never received the chance to learn about the gospel or chose not to be baptized while on Earth. Names have been found and the work is performed for them. After the baptism is complete then they are confirmed as well. Some people have been waiting for a long amount of time for their work to be performed and are very grateful to the people who take the time to perform the baptisms. It is up to the deceased to decide if they will accept the ordinances or not. It gives those people a chance to progress towards the Celestial kingdom.  Show more Show less
