Hi I'm Phil Hall
I am a husband, step-dad, father, son and brother; a reformed sound engineer turned network security analyst.
First and most importantly, I am a husband and father. I married a little later than I'd originally expected, but made up for the lost time by marrying not only the most wonderful woman on earth, but also two beautiful kids. We've since had a third; my family is my pride and joy. I spent the first 10 years of my adult life as a Sound Engineer, playing with concert speaker systems, pushing lots of buttons, and working with some very interesting personalities. This was all fun in my younger days, but I later realized that the career path would never meet my desires for my family. I'm now a Network Security Analyst, protecting the innocent in the 'wild west' now known as the internet.
Why I am a Mormon
I was raised by an LDS family. At one point in my life I was confronted with information claiming to prove the Church a fraud. I decided that logically if the LDS church isn't true then there must be no God, because no other church could be. I am a very logical person, and thus decided I could get by without God. The worst two weeks of my life followed. It wasn't that any external circumstances changed, I just felt horrible - lost, bitter, selfish, and frankly dumb. I found that logic couldn't support my new athiest views, and my feelings certainly opposed them! In a final plea, I got on my knees and asked, "Father, if you are there, I want to come back." At that moment, I saw in the back of my eyelids the face of Jesus, and felt his embrace wash over me, warming and calming my whole body. In tears, I promised never to turn my back on Him again. As I continued, showing faith and patience, answers to my original concerns came: line upon line, one step at a time. I know that Jesus Christ lives and loves me. I know that He is at the head of this Church: by devine revelation He created and directs it.
How I live my faith
My favorite way to serve is by assisting the full-time missionaries. Being able to share my understanding and watch the Gospel bless the lives of those around me is so exciting!
