Hi I'm Kimberly

I'm a wife, a mother of three teenagers, a therapist and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in a suburb of Chicago and feel at home in the midwest. My husband and I have enjoyed raising our three children there. I have a psychology background and when my kids got older, I studied to be a mental health therapist. I've been working for a few years now and love my field. There are challenging days but I know I'm where I am supposed to be. I love singing, reading, running around outdoors and most of all, laughing with my busy, happy family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a Mormon home. When I was a young adult I decided that I needed to learn for myself if the Church was the true church of Jesus Christ. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know if it was true. I felt that I received a confirmation in a powerful and personal way. 20 years later, I can't express how grateful I am that I made that choice. I know that as I've worked to stay close to my Father in Heaven and do what He wants me to do, I've experienced many blessings. Life hasn't always been easy, but I've been blessed with the direction, strength and comfort I've needed to face challenges with confidence and peace.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday because I notice that I'm happier when I do. Doing things like praying, reading scriptures and trying to be more Christ-like, helps me to feel good and enjoy day-to-day life more. I've also served in the Church in a variety of ways- I've sung with young children, taught teenagers, and helped administer the women's organization. Through all of these activities I've learned valuable lessons, felt the joy of service and become a better person.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Kimberly
The Lord provides places where all people can come to worship, enjoy friendships, learn and make covenants. These are our meetinghouses, where we gather on Sundays to do these things, as well as to serve and teach each other. Our meetinghouses are happy, inviting places where a person can feel the Spirit, but there is something special about the feeling inside of a temple. In temples, only those who have demonstrated their commitment to Christ by living high standards of personal conduct and sacrifice can enter. Imagine being in a place where everyone is trying their best to follow all of the teachings and commandments of our Savior. We do many of the same kinds of things in temples that we do in meeting houses- we worship, learn and make covenants, but we're able to do these things where there is extraordinary peace, increased understanding and unity. In this environment we are able to feel the Spirit more easily and receive guidance and comfort more readily. All who demonstrate their commitment to our Savior by striving to make and keep sacred covenants and keep all of His commandments are welcome to enter our temples. Show more Show less

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Kimberly
It can be tough to maintain a healthy, happy marriage and good relationships with independent children. The Gospel of Jesus Christ makes this much easier by helping us develop the same goals and ideals. Having faith in the Savior strengthens all of our relationships, because this faith can help us to be more forgiving, understanding and patient. This faith is a great guide in knowing how to respond to a challenging person or situation as well. The Savior wants us to be united and live peacefully with each other, so it is through His teachings and His Spirit that we can learn better how to do this. Show more Show less
