Hi I'm Jared

I'm one heck of a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from Hawaii but I am currently going to college in Utah. I am studying to become a clinical psychologist the world's best clinical psychologist, in case you were wondering. I play the ukulele, I like playing bluegrass and folk music. I like hiking, camping, and fishing. I am a big Lord of the Rings fans the books, because I'm classy. I also really like reading C.S. Lewis.

Why I am a Mormon

One reoccuring theme in the scriptures is the idea that if we ask we will receive. This makes a lot of sense to me, especially as it relates to religious decisions. If God has a plan for you, and has things He wants you to do, it makes sense to me that He would tell you about it Himself. With that in mind I turned to God to see if the things taught by the LDS church were true, because if they were I knew it would have a profound effect on my life. I receieved an answer to that prayer and have spent my life since then trying to live up to that answer.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through a lot of small decisions I make every day. I strive to make study of the scriptures and prayer a part of my day to day life. My faith also affects choices like which movies or TV shows I watch or what music I listen to. I also have been blessed with the oportunity to teach sunday school every other week, which is always a lot of fun. It is always cool to hear how other people understand the scriptures and apply their teaching to their lives or how the scriptures line up with something they are learning at school (the congregation I attend is mostly college students).

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

We believe that we are saved by the grace of Christ after all we can do. What this means is that first and foremost we believe that salvation comes only through the grace (or enabling power) of Jesus Christ, which He offers us through the gift of His atonement. We also believe that in order to have access to that grace we need to do all we can to be obedient to Christ's commandments. Show more Show less
