Hi I'm John

Im a mormon. Im 20 years old. Im livin the dream.

About Me

I grew up taking fun seriously, everything from gorilla suits to various sports and random spontaneous acts that you just had to be there to understand. At this time in my life, I am experiencing the most exciting thing i have ever done. I live in Pennsylvania where im serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It is awesome. I go around all day talking to people about the meaning of life and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I hear some interesting and strange ideas. I meet awesome and angry people, while having hilarious and spiritual experences. I have the privilege of seeing people's lives change as they experiment with living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That, my friends, is the most satisfying and exciting experience to have. There is not many things greater to me then to see a persons countenance change as the realization that he or she is a child of God sinks in. It's awesome. I'm livin the dream.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because the church is legit. I have heard, experienced and seen many different ways of living and views on life. The full Gospel of Jesus Christ has brought many things into perspective for me. It has taught me what is important and what is not. It has helped me grow and progress in all aspects of my life. At one point in my life, I had a few experiences and thoughts that were very humbling. It caused me to deeply ponder what my purpose in life was. I started reading the New Testament and it sparked the faith in me. I felt good reading it. However, I'm kinda skeptical by nature. I knew there were many different points of view on Christ and on God in general. So, probably because I was familiar with the Mormon faith I made the choice to dig into the Book of Mormon and see what it was all about. The Book of Mormon spoke truth to me. The quality of my life improved as I took steps of faith and applied what I learned. I believed the church was true. However, my skeptical nature and unproductive life style held me back. I wanted confirmation. I did receive that confirmation that God knew me and his full plan of happiness and salvation was found within the church. This was a sacred event too me. It caused me to change many aspects of my life and behavior for the better. I can trace a flood of blessings to that sacred day when I sought out my heavenly father.

How I live my faith

I live my faith simply by striving to follow the example of Jesus christ, repenting and enduring what life has to throw at me. I study the words of the prophets and apply/share what I learn.

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

The church Christ established did not have a paid clergy and neither do we. We all chip in and we all learn and grow together in the process.  Show more Show less
