Hi I'm Leeanne

I'm a stay at home mom of two teens. I have a child with a disability. I work with survivors of sexual assault, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

HI! I'm a stay-at-home mom of two teenagers, one of whom has a Learning Disability and ADHD. I have a degree in special education and some graduate work in counseling. I volunteer as an advocate for sexual assault victims on a crisis line as well as at the hospitals. I like to exercise and do SOME cross-stitch; BUT, I don't really enjoy cooking and keeping house. ODD for a stay-at-home mom! LOL!

Why I am a Mormon

While I was raised as an active Mormon and had spiritual experiences as a child and teenager; I reached a major crisis in my late 20's. During this time, I was called upon to evaluate what my beliefs REALLY were. Did I believe that this was the only church with the fulness of the gospel here on this earth? Did I believe all the concepts that came with it? What DID I believe about Jesus Christ? As I pondered these questions, I was given many interesting and amazing experiences that taught me about MY personal relationship with my Savior Jesus Christ and that this IS the fulness of His gospel. I learned and knew with unwavering knowledge (that can only be felt through the Holy Ghost -- you know it when you feel it) that THIS is the true church and that by doing the best I can to abide by it's principles; I would gain the greatest happiness in this life and in the life to come.

How I live my faith

I try on a daily basis to live a Christ-like life. I fall FAR short, but have faith that if I try my best, the atonement of Jesus Christ makes up for the rest. My efforts come through trying to live each day a little better than the last. I keep my faith strong by studying scriptures alone and with my family, by praying alone and with my family, and by attending regular church meetings to be enriched by the testimonies and experiences of others. I currently work in the cub scouting program as a den leader. We have a GREAT time with the 9 yr old boys -- The Bear Den. They are fun, full of energy, and it's a great experience to see them learn and grow in many aspects of their young lives! When we open our meetings, they are eager to pray and I often hear them praying for an older brother or sister who is currently serving a mission in a foreign country. WHAT FAITH! It strengthens me to see such faith and belief in a little child. It reminds me that Jesus loved little children and he counseled us to become as little children in our faith and trust in Him.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Mormons do not ONLY help Mormons. We are ALL children of God and thus our brothers and sisters. We have a sacred obligation to help ANYONE who is in need as long as it is within our personal capability to do so. Show more Show less

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

During the time of Christ, His church was organized and run perfectly. After He was crucified, the Apostles were slowly killed and because of the unbelief of the people, the power of the Priesthood was taken from the earth. This launched the world into what has become known as the "Dark Ages". Then came the Rennaisance when art and music began to flourish as did belief in God. While parts of the teachings of Christ's Church remained on the earth; the fulness of his gospel did not exist. The Bible did exist and was passed down through generations. While the Bible is the Word of God, some of the purity of it was lost over time when different translations were made of the origiinal writings. During the 1820's there was somewhat of a religious revival in this country. There was much debate as to which church was true. The Lord had waited until this time in history to reveal the FULNESS of His gospel and to make known to us a SECOND WITNESS of the divinity of Jesus Christ and of his mission here on earth. Instead of only the Bible, we then gained ANOTHER testament of the divinity of His mission here on earth. WHAT A GIFT! Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

The Priesthood is the power to act in the name of Jesus Christ. Men who hold the Priesthood, when requested, can give blessings of healing and comfort to those who are afflicted. They can also administer the ordinances of the Gospel, like baptizing someone or praying over and passing out the sacrament (much like communion in other churches). Show more Show less
