Hi I'm Richard

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married, have 7-children, and 10 grandchildren. I am employed as a public works inspector. I also own and operate a tortoise farm part time. I enjoy growing cold hardy subtropical plants, vegetable gardening, hiking, and traveling on wildlife expeditions (I have been to Mexico, Central America, South America, the Galapagos Islands, Africa, and many destinations in the USA).

Why I am a Mormon

As a teenager I prayed to our Father in Heaven and received a personal witness of the truthfulness of His gospel and of the restoration of Christ's Church here on the earth. That experience has affected my life ever since. As I have tried to live the principals of the gospel, as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I have often felt God's love. I have seen God’s protecting hand in my life and have received wonderful blessing in my family.

How I live my faith

I have lived in many Wards (congregations) and have actively participated in each one. I have enjoyed working with my boys on their road to become Eagle Scouts and served as the Webelos leader, scout master, and Young Men’s President in our Ward. I have fond memories of summer camps, hikes, and father & sons outings. All 4 or my boys achieved the Eagle Rank. I served as the president and group leader of the men’s organization at church (Elders Quorum and High Priest Group). I was called to serve as the Bishop of one of the Wards we lived in. I am currently the Ward Clerk. When I was 19 I was called as a missionary in Michigan and Indiana for two years. As a young man I remember helping to hoe weeds in the Church cotton fields and picking citrus at the Church Farm. I have had the opportunity to help build three “Habitat for Humanity” homes in our community. It always feels good when I am serving others.
