Hi I'm Jon

I grew up in Mesa AZ in an active religious family. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

About Me

I am reminded I am 50 yrs old, but I am trying to stay in my 30's in my mind and activities. I have a wonderful wife and 6 children (5 girls, 1 boy). Three children are married and we have three grandchildren with another on the way. We love to spend free time at the lake wake boarding. It is a great place where we have our family captive with nowhere to go, and only each other to visit and laugh with. I love to play golf and read a good non-fiction book. I also love to give community service and be involved as much as possible with good people in my home town.

Why I am a Mormon

I can only answer this in that I am grateful to know we have a loving Father in Heaven who responds to our prayers and has a purpose for each one of his children. As one of those children, I have found happiness in the teachings of Jesus Christ, his son, and also in his Prophets that are here today, the same as they were in previous centuries. I believe all churches teach doctrines of the Savior, but through a latter day Prophet, the fullness of his Gospel has been restored to the earth. I love these teachings and they bring me happiness and hope for the second coming of the Savior. I have faith in the teachings that families are forever, even beyond this life.

How I live my faith

I wake up each morning and roll off the bed onto my knees to pray to my Heavenly Father. I try to devote my every day in emulating the Savior and his kindness in some way. Prayer helps me to start the day with a good focus. I love the fact that we have no paid ministry in the church and we are all commissioned to go out and serve in positions in the Church. Whether it be with the Children, the Youth, or the Adults, I find great satisfaction in studying the Gospel and sharing it in these different organizations. Living the teachings of the Church and serving others is where we find true happiness. That is what the Savior did in his ministry.

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Isn't it incredible that we live the same teachings that Malachi taught in the Bible. Because of the faithful tithe payers of the Church, we have beautiful buildings to worship in, and sacred temples to receive endowments of eternal nature, and provide work for our ancestors that bind us together forever both in this life and beyond the grave.
