Hi I'm Russell

I am a happily married father of two boys, live in Georgia, work for a non-profit and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Work I work as V.P. of Operations for a collegiate honor society. It's a challenging position but allows me to apply my business skills towards a philanthropic goal. Hobbies Photography, Outdoors, and Boy Scouts. I've been a scout leader for more than 20 years. Along the way I've fed my creative desire with photography. Everything from landscapes and wildlife to the people around me make wonderful subjects. Church My wife and I teach early morning seminary. We have 18 high school students come by the house every morning at 630 and we study the gospel of Jesus Christ. It's one of the most rewarding things we have ever done.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for two major reasons. The first is because my parents were Mormons. That explains how I became one. The second reason is because of my personal experiences. I stopped being a Mormon because of my parents many years ago. Today it's because I know I have a Heavenly Father who loves me. He's provided directions on how to live, act, work and raise my family. He offers great blessings now and a great reward in the end for following his directions.

How I live my faith

Living my faith is just a part of who I am. The values of faith, honesty, and work come from my core beliefs and come out in the way I live my life. It touches family, work, community and church service. My family is the center of my life. Working with my wife to ensure we provide the loving environment we all need is a key goal. Providing for my family's physical, emotional, and spiritual needs is where it all starts for me. The gospel of Jesus Christ influences me at work in how I treat employees, vendors and partners. The 'right' thing to do is frequently as important as what's in the contract. I give service on a regular basis. Whether it be teaching a seminary class, to taking my sons to Alabama to help clean up after the recent tornadoes, it's just what I do.

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

Russell
The Apostles are special witnesses of Jesus Christ. They were and are intended to be living men who can teach and testify of Christ. When the 11 Apostles who remained after the crucifixion of Christ met to choose a man to replace Judas Iscariot, Peter stated that the new Apostle must be "a witness with us of Christ's resurrection" Acts 122 Later in acts we also see that the Apostles "with great power gave... witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus" Acts 433 Church History Seminary Manual Pg 282 I would encourage anyone wanting to know more about modern Apostles to see the webpage "Special Witnesses of Christ" at http//jesuschrist.lds.org/SonOfGod/eng/special-witnesses These are some of the most special men you could ever hope to learn from.
