Hi I'm Spencer

I'm a Black Belt, a Ballroom Dancer, and I love the Pacific Northwest and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My friends joke that I'm a Crazy Dancing Ninja Hick. I'm a bit of a nerd, it's true but I love my beat up Ford and boots. Martial Arts is a favorite past time, and on the weekends I'm always on the Dance floor. I love scouting and being outdoors - but most of all I love to take my talents and share them with others by teaching so they can enjoy them as well and reach their full potential.

Why I am a Mormon

Though I grew up in the Church and never truly doubted its teachings I never really knew for myself it what i believed was true- or if I even believed it at all. I remember being so confused about Christ- I didn't understand him and why he was important. The time came when I realized I couldn't be on the fence anymore but that I would have to find out for myself. For the first time in my life I did my best to daily call upon God in prayer and to read his words- The Book of Mormon & Bible. This caused an increased spirituality and I my life improved greatly- but I was very prideful and just gave myself credits for my success. Though I had questions, my heart was closed to the answers. Then I went through some tough trials- just enough to humble me enough to get to my knees and not only pray but to listen. My answer astounded me- God Lives! As does his Son, Jesus Christ. Both of them are aware of me and love me. So much so that Christ would lay down his own life to save mine. It was a great domino effect- everything started to make sense and I cam to know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true Church of Christ. It was restored by his servant and Prophet Joseph Smith and that the Bible and Book of Mormon are truly the word of God. Most Importantly- Christ still lives, he still loves us and he has provided a way that we never have to be alone if we but have on his name. There is not a doubt in my mind HE Lives and because HE lives- I too shall live again. That knowledge has pulled me through so many difficult trials and will continue to be a guiding beacon throughout my life.

How I live my faith

Currently- I'm a Full-Time Missionary and I absolutely love sharing the gospel to everyone I meet. My Faith has brought me so much happiness and I want everyone to experience that same joy. So everyday I put on a suit, white shirt and tie and then a name tag bearing my fathers name and the name of Christ. Then I just go out and share to everyone and anyone who will listen.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No, we do not worship Joseph Smith. We only worship God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. What makes Joseph Smith so important is that he was a prophet called of God to restore or bring back The Gospel of Jesus Christ after a long period of it being lost. For this I am very grateful- if not for the prophets it would be difficult for us to worship the Savior, but with them I have a clear understanding of what i need to do to return to my Father in heaven. Are Mormons Christians?

If your definition of a Christian is one who follows Jesus Christ- then yes we are Christians. The name of our church is The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints. Christ is the center of everything we do, it is only through his grace we are saved and we do our best to follow his teachings, commandments and gospel. Each day of our lives we strive to become better deciples of Christ. So yes- we are Christians. Show more Show less

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Ourt Families are central to Heavenly Father's Plan of Happiness- they help us learn and grow both in temporal and spiritual things. Personally I feel that one of the main reasons we were given families was to understand the love our Father in Heaven has for us. In our families we find strength we wouldn't have on our own- and as we pull together we can help each other make it back to our Father. Also because of the Restoration of the gospelo we know that families continue beyond the grave- if we are faithful and live the gospel our family can be sealed for all of time and eternity- never to be seperated again. What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

One of the invitations Christ gave over and over again was to "Come and follow me", there no exclusions or restrictions, all were invited to come to Christ. We still believe that- so on every Chapel their is a sign that states "Visitors Welcome". Yes, you may come, in fact please come! We invite everyone to join us. Our main service is the Sacrament meeting- there the whole family young to old gather together to worship. We sing Hymns, and listen to speakers who are chosen from members of the congregation. During this meeting we take the Sacrament, and remember the Sacrifice Christ gave for us. I always notice a huge difference in my week when I attend this and other church meetings- it is a spiritual recharge that lasts throughout the week- you can feel the same way! Please feel welcome to come, we'd love to have you there! Show more Show less
