Hi I'm Kelly

I'm an elementary education major. I love to play volleyball. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

After 9 semesters of college, and six different majors, I am almost ready to graduate! I love learning, which is why I ended up choosing to be an elementary school teacher. I am really excited to teach children and to share with them my love of learning. While in high school I played volleyball, basketball, swimming and track. I LOVE sports. Volleyball is probably my favorite. While in college I spent a lot of time playing it with my husband, friends and on intramural teams and yet somehow managed to pull a 3.8 GPA. I am also learning to crochet. So far I have made a not-so-square dish cloth and a scarf. My next project is a hat to go with my scarf.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the peace that I feel when I go to church and live the principles of the gospel.

How I live my faith

Each week I attend church where I sing uplifting hymns, pray with other members of my faith, and learn from my friends and neighbors. I also take the Sacrament each week which helps me to remember my Savior Jesus Christ and all that he has done for me. Another way I live my faith is by visiting with other women in their homes. Together we share experiences, teach each others about Jesus Christ and help each other in whatever trials we face.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Kelly
Mormon women are powerful! They have the spiritual strength to influence the world for good. YES! Mormons believe in equality of men and women! This can be confusing to some people because Mormon women have different roles than Mormon men. But just because we have different roles does not mean we have different worth. My role in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints makes me feel empowered to do good things in my family and my community. Show more Show less

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Kelly
The Lord has always required his people to sacrifice in order to show their devotion to Him. We do this by returning 10% of all of our income to Him by donating it to the Church. By offering this small sacrifice to the Lord, we qualify for His blessings. It may seem like a lot sometimes, but the peace that comes from knowing you are obeying God's commandments is worth every sacrifice! Show more Show less
