Hi I'm Fatima

I grew up in Los Angeles, a child of immigrant parents. I am Mormon.

About Me

I work in the healthcare field as an administrator. When I'm not in the office, you'll find me out and about with my camera in hand. I love to take pictures of people and places both local and foreign. Traveling and photography have granted me a greater understanding of the beauty and variety found in God's creations.

Why I am a Mormon

I met the missionaries a week after returning from Rome. While on vacation, I had the opportunity to see and hear the pope as he delivered a monthly address at St Peter's Square. While at the Vatican, I remember thinking that I was standing in the house of the Lord. But as the day progressed and as I heard the words of the pope, I soon realized that there was something missing. I did not feel the spirit of the Lord. Though I stood among thousands of fellow travelers in the square, I never felt more alone. I called home that night and let my mother know how I had felt. A knock was heard from the front door weeks later. When she opened the door, she was met with the eager faces of two Mormon missionaries, she kindly informed them that she was catholic and uninterested in thier message but that they should come back and speak with her daughter. When I sat at the kitchen table with them for the first time, I felt at ease and listened to thier message of a young boy who also felt confused and had searched earnestly for the Lord's true church. I was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints three weeks later. From the moment I met the missionaries, opened the Book of Mormon, and heard the words of a living prophet, I knew that I had found God's church. I continue to grow in my faith, daily. Through faith and action, I have found the peace and purpose that I had always longed for.

How I live my faith

I actively participate in our women's organization and teach fellow members. Our lessons include topics that help promote scripture study, positive self esteem, and faith.

What is faith?

Faith is not only believing in God and Jesus Christ but acting upon that belief. It is an active pursuit to help those around you and grow as a person, day by day, act by act. Show more Show less
