Hi I'm David

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Oregon, went to college in Utah, served a mission in Brazil and now live in Colorado.

About Me

I am married and have two children. My wife and I met in college and have been happily married for five years. I love music and I love flying! I began to learn the piano in sixth grade; a year later I began learning the saxophone and a couple years after that I took up the flute. I haven't kept up on all these instruments but I'm trying to play the piano more these days. While my dedication to playing musical instruments has gone up and down over the years, I have never been too busy to sing. I love to sing the bass parts in choral arrangements and every once in a while I'll sing a solo or a duet at church. While I love music, I unfortunately do not have as much time as I would like to practice. I balance my joy of music with providing for my family, serving in the church and trying to have plenty of time with my family. I fly helicopters for a living.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a child, I went to church just because that was what we did. However, as I grew up I began to realize that the Lord was telling me through how I felt deep inside, that this is His true church. I felt this through studying the Scriptures, praying and trying to serve others. I was taught to have faith in Jesus Christ, repent of my sins, be baptized, receive the Holy Ghost and serve the Lord to the end of my life. While I learned more as I grew up, I did have faith in my Savior by the time I was 8 years old and I had a determination to serve Him for the rest of my life and forever. I was baptized when I was 8 years old and have never regretted that commitment which I made to the Lord at that time. I do everything I can to keep the commandments because I know that it brings me true happiness. I love my family and want to be with them forever. I know that this is only possible through the gospel of Jesus Christ and specifically by being sealed together in the House of the Lord. My wife and I are committed to each other and to the Lord. We stay faithful to the promises we made to each other and to the Lord because we love Him as well as each other.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reading the Scriptures daily with my family and by myself. I pray to my Heavenly Father daily, both with the family and by myself. Once a week we have an evening that we share together as a family where we sing, pray, and play together. Our church services that we go to as a family are on Sundays and consist of three parts: Sacrament Meeting, Sunday School and Priesthood meetings. Sometimes I will spend time during the week to help with the missionary work and share the gospel to those wanting to learn about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Or I spend time visiting with others who are members of the church. Likewise there are members of the Church who regularly visit my family; we all take care of each other in this way.
