Hi I'm Paul Bennett

I'm from New Zealand, run a web company and have four beautiful daughters and one amazing wife. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a husband and a father, with four beautiful girls. I've studied Architecture and Information Science and like basketball, skateboarding and being outdoors. I run a web development company and a web hosting company.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 19 I began to think seriously about religion but was unsure of which church to join. I had a chance meeting with LDS missionaries and later I was taught about a plan that my Father in Heaven had for me and was introduced to the Bible and Book of Mormon. I had a strong, positive feeling that what I was being taught was true - a feeling I had never before felt. The missionaries asked me to pray and ask God if what they were teaching was true - I did so and my prayers were answered with that same wonderful, warm happy feeling. I was baptised soon after. I've continued to live the gospel of Jesus Christ as I've seen, felt and know the blessings it brings and that it is true.

How I live my faith

I do my best to set an example for my wife and children. We read the scriptures with our children as well as pray and spend one evening a week with them talking together, planning our week and teaching the gospel. I'm the Branch President of our small local church congregation, which means I help oversee the teaching and service work for the adults, youth and children of the branch.

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Paul Bennett
Yes. Learning of that experience (recorded in 3 Nephi chapter 11 in the Book of Mormon) really helped solidify the truth of the biblical record for me. I guess for some other Christians that may sound odd, but to me having an extra book of scripture from a separate continent showing the Saviour teaching the people there the same things he had taught in the bible makes a lot of sense and shows that Jesus cares for all the people of the earth. What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Paul Bennett
I guess my life is a bit more family focussed than some (not all) other friends of the same age. We try to spend a lot of time together as a family and try and limit the amount of extra "stuff" we get involved with so we have enough time for one another. Sometimes that time is simply being together at home or going out for a walk in the bush (forest). Being a Mormon can be busy! We both serve in the local branch of the church and there can be quite a few activities and meetings to juggle. The best part of life as a "Mormon" for me is seeing my children grow up and seeing them start to live the teachings of Jesus Christ and start to identify with the Saviour through some of their own experiences. Do Mormons practice polygamy?

Paul Bennett
No, it has been over 100 years since the church discontinued the practice of polygamy. Show more Show less
