Hi I'm Norman

I was born in western Nevada. I spent most of my youth in Alaska. I am married and have 5 children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a typical male, working to make life a joy. My parents had 10 children which are now scattered around the USA. In my youth I learned some valuable lessons. I have been married for 30 years and my wife and I have a great family. I have been fortunate to have sufficient employment to provide for my family although for one recent year I was unemployed.

Why I am a Mormon

My father joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when I was a child. I recall as a child having a spiritual experience which left me with the assurance that God existed and he knew me. As I grew older I decided I needed to know for myself if the faith of my mother and father was true. I decided to read the Book of Mormon and determine if the book was of God. I set aside time each evening to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it. After I completed the book I recall kneeling by my bed, holding the book in my hands, and asking with all my heart if the book was His. I also recall the wonderful feeling that entirely enveloped me, I knew for myself that God answered my prayer. The Book of Mormon was of God. And with that knowledge came the understanding that my life was changed. Since that time I have had many other spiritual experiences which have strengthened and sustained me in Life. But I am a Mormon because I have come to know God lives, that he loves me, and that the Book of Mormon is true. All other experiences have enlarged my faith and expanded those first cherished moments of learning of God and his work.

How I live my faith

How do I live my faith? My faith in Christ permeates all I do. I am not a perfect follower of Christ. However, I feel sorry for my short-comings. I repent. I try to follow Christ walking in gratitude for the things I have. I have a wonderful family, wonderful friends, wonderful associates, a wonderful life. I try to follow Christ by having Charity; love for friends and love for those who are hurtful. Christ said, "If ye love me, keep my Commandments." I try to follow Christ by keeping all His commandments. Some things I do by way of commandment. Some things I do because I feel that I should. I try to follow Christ by serving those about me. I care for my wife, for my children, for my parents. I serve in my Church as a teacher. I participate in the annual Mesa Arizona Easter Pageant (a spiritually edifying and joyful experience). I serve as a volunteer in our community. I serve families that are assigned to me in my Church. I serve families that appear to need friendship. I also serve families because they served me first, and I am thankful. I try to follow Christ by being honest in all my dealings. I try to be honest in my work, in my interactions. These are just a few examples of how I live my faith. I try to do what Christ would do if Christ were here.
