Hi I'm Chris

I'm a Software Developer. I'm blessed with three children and an incredibly talented wife. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a self-proclaimed, unabashed, unashamed geek. I am a software developer. I am a husband to a woman that amazes me every day of our lives together. I am a father of three unique and inspiring children. I am easily amused. I am sometimes a bit too sarcastic. I am definitely not perfect. Above all, I am happy.

Why I am a Mormon

I am the product of a Mom that found the Gospel young and a Dad that was not interested for years. A great family befriended my young parents and showed us true Christlike Love. My parents took the challenge to read the Book of Mormon to find out for themselves its truthfulness. I took the same opportunity later in my teenage years. The witness I received cannot be expressed. It cannot be given to someone else. In much the same way that I cannot give you my knowledge of software development. You can learn to write code as I do. There are many different ways you can learn. Despite so may paths you can follow, there are key elements that are necessary. You can't code without reading code. You can't code without writing some code. You can't code without asking questions. I know the Book of Mormon is true. I read it. I followed the teachings of the Savior found within. I asked God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ if the Book of Mormon is true. My answer was and is distinct and as real as you and I. I know that Joseph Smith did, in fact, see God the Father and Jesus Christ. I know this happened. There is no way I can express this knowledge in a way that makes sense empirically. It isn't testable. It isn't what the world would call rational. I don't particularly care. What I feel is real. I cannot explain why. Feel it and you will know what I mean.

How I live my faith

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is more to me than just a Sunday activity. My favorite thing is teaching. I love sharing experiences and watching the faces of those I am speaking to light up with understanding, sympathy, or sometimes just plain humor. I had the distinct privilege of teaching the youth early in the morning for a couple years. This responsibility was challenging but at the same time brought me great joy. Over the years I have come to learn the power of visiting the household of faith. I have had opportunity to be assigned to visit families on a monthly basis. My assignment is to be their friend. While this may seem trite, coerced even, I can honestly say it is a great blessing in my life. I love the opportunity to go into a home and really become friends. There is nothing shallow about it to me. To me, it is as real as anything. And, I believe there is great power in these relationships.
