Hi I'm Michael Yardley

I'm a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

About Me

I am a father of eight children, a special education teacher, and a pod-caster. We live in a small town in Southern Utah and love to spend time outdoors and travel. I spent two years in Japan as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I love my family and live a busy but happy life.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church in a kind and loving family. As I looked around at the world and saw the misery caused by drugs, infidelity, and other immoral acts I realized quickly that the LDS Church provided guidance that would help me lead a peaceful and happy life. Even though there is a great practical case to be made for living and following this church, it is the knowledge of the truthfulness of the LDS Church, that I have gained through study and prayer that keeps me striving to be a strong member of the church.

How I live my faith

I have served as a scout leader for many years, and I now serve as a secretary in my High Priests Quorum. I may not be perfect but I strive to be an example of my faith.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Michael Yardley
The history of The Bible is a very interesting story. The King James version of the Bible which came with the recognition that many of the truths in the existing English translations had been lost or manipulated for political purposes, and it was an attempt to come up with a less political and more accurate translation of the Bible. The challenge that they faced was that even the Hebrew and ancient texts that they were working from had gone through many translations, and have lost much of the truths of the original texts. The most clear evidence that the plain and simple truths have been lost from the bible is to simply look at the many religions, and many beliefs, that all cite the bible to support their beliefs. If it were the perfect original text there would be far less contention regarding the meaning of the Bible. In addition to the lost messages of the Bible the Priesthood authority was also lost. A restoration was necessary to restore the truths lost from the Bible, and to restore the proper priesthood authority. When used with the Book of Mormon, the Bible becomes far more clear, and we find a clear picture of the Lords plan for us. Show more Show less
