Hi I'm Kate.

I grew up in Washington state. I have studied, performed, and taught dance for 15 years. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a dancer. I have been dancing and doing gymnastics since before I can remember. My mom says I was always upside down, hanging on the monkey bars, when I was young. So, she signed me up for gymnastics. I co-choreographed my 1st dance, with a neighbor in my front lawn, when I was eight. What I enjoy most about the skills I have learned is sharing it with others.I taught my 1st class when I was seventeen and co-choreographed my 1st full legnth musical when I was eighteen. Since then I have choreographed eight full length musicals, taught hundreds of students, and performed dance professionally. I earned a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts, majoring in dance. I am a Registered Yoga Teacher and a Certified Dance Teacher. What makes me the happiest in this life is my family. I love my family so much, especially my husband. I am so blessed to have married my best friend.

Why I am a Mormon

In my youth and as a young adult, I spent a lot of time searching for love, truth and happiness. I followed a lot of dark paths that ended at many dead ends. But this was for great purpose, not to be forgotten. What came of my journey was an indestructible testimony. My relationship to my Savior is the most valuable and priceless blessing I have. I knew that before I joined this church. To me church was where I spend my time worshiping while I am here on earth, little did I know that there was a church that goes beyond that. I prayed for 3 years asking God what he expected out of a church. I studied scriptures and got to know the Savior on a fundamental level. On my journey to enlightenment I attended several churches. The day I knew I wouldn't run into any more dead ends was the day I met with two missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. At that point, I never thought my spirituality would expand beyond my expectations, but it did, with pure clarity. I knew that God had led me to this church because he knows the desires of my heart. I wanted to know the truth and now I have certainty that the restoration is true and that God loves us so much that he gives us prophets. I know that Christ lived on this earth and died for us to atone for our sins. I love my Savior. I am forever grateful for the light of Christ.

How I live my faith

My mom has always been a great example to me. She generously shares the Gospel with whom ever she meets, asking for nothing in return. She is very couragous in her efforts to spread the good news. For three years prior to joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I prayed and studied with conviction that I would have a testimony of my own. As I studied and prayed, I visited a lot of different churches, but I was getting red lights at every turn. It wasn't until I visited the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints that I got green lights farther than the eye can see. I made the choice that this was where God wanted me to be, and I knew it was true with all my heart. I had answers, purpose and motivation. But I think the most incredible gift was the love I felt for the first time in all my life. I have had opportunities to meet with other women at church or in their homes who I could relate to and grow spiritually with. I was in the activities committee, where a group of us would come up with fun things to do for a group of single young adults. I have been able to teach yoga for activities. As a member of the activities committee I had the opportunity to teach spiritual lessons as well. This was the most rewarding calling I have had. One of my most memorable experiences was when I was asked to choreograph a dance for a HUGE dance program for the youth. I am very grateful to be involved with the church. It is enriching and makes me feel amazing.
