Hi I'm Robin

I'm a criminal defense lawyer. I'm a fantasy writer. I'm a wife and a mother of three young sons. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

When I'm not working or riding herd on children, I'm either reading or writing. (Mostly reading, though I SHOULD be writing.) I graduated from Brigham Young University with a Theatre Arts degree then went on to law school, where I discovered that people--even (especially?) deeply flawed people--are SOOO much more interesting than money.

Why I am a Mormon

My mother's ancestors crossed the plains as Mormon Pioneers and my father's English family converted to the church when he was young. They taught their six children the importance of faith combined with reason: though no question is unrighteous, there are some answers we just aren't ready for. Still, as we study the words of the prophets, pray, and listen to the Spirit, we can learn line upon line, as we are ready for more. What I know so far makes sense. Feels correct. Gives me hope and makes me happy.

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday with my family and I've recently rediscovered why regular, consistent family prayer is important to maintaining, peace, harmony, life, and limb in the home. I'm a local-level missionary, so I get to visit people in our area who need support or who just need to feel welcome. I also love teaching in church (that'd be the lawyer-slash-theatre-major talking).

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Our Heavenly Father has given us all we need to succeed in this life and in the life to come. If He hasn't given it to us, we don't need it. Also, if women were tasked with everything in the church that the men do, we'd do it. And a lot of men would just sit back and let us. As a practical matter, the division of labor makes sure everyone has a responsibility to serve and grow. Just sayin'. Show more Show less
