Hi I'm Brandon

I'm a husband. I'm a father. I'm an avid software developer. I'm a student of computer science. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently trying to balance what seems like a million things at one time with seemingly little time to do so. I have a great interest in computers: I work as a software developer full time and go to school part time majoring in computer science. I'm a husband and father of two small children. I try to fulfill my church responsibilities to the best of my ability and spend the rest of my spare time with my wife and other family members. The most important things to me in life are my relationship with my Heavenly Father, my Savior, Jesus Christ, my wife, and my children; always serving others (most especially my family). My wife would probably say that my most loved hobby is breaking our computer as I fiddle with it to better understand how it all works!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the changes that being a member of Christ's church has made in my life as well as the changes I've seen it make in the lives of others all around me. I would first like to explain why I believe in Christ: In the past I was mixed up with some really bad things that not only made be absolutely miserable but brought sadness to my friends and family as well. I tried so very hard to leave those things behind and move on with my life but found that no matter how hard I tried, I simply could not do so. It wasn't until I got on my knees and humbly prayed to our Heavenly Father for help that I was able to change my life for the better. He answered my prayer through His Spirit. I immediately felt more love then I could ever hope to describe...I knew without a doubt that Heavenly Father loves me and that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. Since that moment my life has changed, I left behind the things that were bringing so much sadness and depression into my life...but I know that I didn't do it alone, it was because of my Savior's love for me that I was able to change. Because of this experience, I had, and continue to have, great desires to share that love which I experienced everyone in this world. I had decided long ago to serve a 2 year mission for our Lord and to best prepare myself for that mission I knew that I had to read the Book of Mormon and learn for myself whether or not it really was more of God's word given to us through ancient prophets. After reading the Book of Mormon in its entirety, I knelt and prayed to our Heavenly Father and asked Him if the Book of Mormon really is what it claims to be, more of His word. I remember feeling so much love and joy fill my entire soul...I knew that it was true, I had no doubt of it. I served my 2 year mission and found that living the Gospel of Jesus Christ on a day to day basis is the only thing that brings true happiness in life. I saw people's lives that were filled with darkness and despair transform into lives filled with joy, love, hope, and happiness. I am a Mormon because I know that Christ restored all of the precious truths that have been lost over time. I know that He chose Joseph Smith to be a prophet so that he could restore these things. I know this because I've prayed to know if the Book of Mormon really is more of the word of God. God has told me that the Book of Mormon truly is more of the word of God and because I know this, I know that the man who translated the book (Joseph Smith) truly was chosen by God to do these things. And because I know that all this is true, I know that our church, as it exists today, is the only church on the Earth with the authority to act in the name of Christ when performing baptism. But most of all, as it says in Matthew chapter 7 verses 17 and 20: 17 - "Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit." 20 - "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them." I know that this church is Christ's church because of the "fruit" that it bares. It has not only brought me happiness, but millions others as well. It will bring you happiness as well to know that you are doing what our Savior wants you to do.

How I live my faith

I live my faith mainly by trying to serve everyone I come across during each day. I try to be uplifting and loving to all. I also serve in our church a lot. I attend church each Sunday and strive to be uplifting to others so that they can know that all are welcome. I currently serve in the Church as one who helps to ensure that new members and people investigating the Church feel welcome and make sure that they have someone to go to when they need help with whatever may be going on in their lives. I also try very much to teach my family the Gospel because I know that it will bring happiness in their lives as well as in my own. I read the word of God from the Book of Mormon and the Bible everyday so that I can remind myself how I should be living and so that I can feel the Spirit of God during the day; this allows me to be reminded of Him and helps me to feel more love for others...even when it is hard to do so.
