Hi I'm Jeff

I'm from Chicago, I love to sing and dance, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

Right now, I work full time. I am the only salesman for a start-up company in the software industry, and I love what I do. I Also love to sing, and I'm a wanna-be swing dancer. I am perpetually "starting a swing band" that never seems to materialize (but it will happen!!). I recently returned from serving a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Arizona, this was the most wonderfull part of my life up to that point. It definately changed my life. Because of my mission, I was able to have Experiances that taught me about loving people I've never met, and serving just for that. I learned to put work into my relationship with God, and really come to know my Savior Jesus Christ. I am now preparing to be a student, and I'm saving up until then. My interests and fascinations are in physics, art, and the constitution. I've always been so fascinated by the founding fathers, and many before them, and how principled they were. It seems to me, that the most successful and happy men and women, have been the ones deeply centered in principles, and doing what's right, in concern for others. It helps me when I am feeling less that charitable towards others, to remember the example of the great folks I've know, my Famiy, and my Savior.

Why I am a Mormon

All growing up I was raised in the Church, and I remember my parents teaching me about prayer, and how everything can be taken to God in prayer. I would often see my mother kneeling, and every time I would loose something, my dad would say "son, have you prayed about it?". I would often pray, and I learned to take my fears and the things I thought about to my Father in heaven. I began to feel like he was listening, and I felt the Holy Ghost, sometimes called the spirit of God, or the Comforter, in the Bible. On my mission, I had even more opportunities to pray, and the were many who were willing to challenge my faith. I had to know for myself. I had always believed, now I needed to know. I have read the Book of Mormon many times, and asked God if what I had read was true, and I know through the Spirit of God that it is, just as anyone can.

How I live my faith

I help other members of my congregation share their faith on the internet. I love to sing in the choir, and I pick up trash if its on the ground. I try to read the scriptures often, and I say sorry when I mess up... I get to practice saying sorry alot :)

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Jeff
My own testimony is my knowledge that God really does live, that his Son Jesus Christ lives, and that he really has the power to bring me back to Live with God and cleanse me from all my mistakes. I know that Joseph Smith really was a Prophet of God, and that a Lives and guides the Lords church on the earth today. This knowledge comes directly from the Holy Ghost, or Spirit of God into ones heart, after a sincere desire to know whether or not this is true, and real effort to obtain this knowledge. Spirit knowledge is a gift from God available to every one of his children, and can come from no one else. We know from the Bible that anyone who sincerely wants to know can drive this knowledge from God.
