Hi I'm Bonnie

I coach high school theatre. I'm a health enthusiast. I'm an aspiring photographer. I'm a wife, a mother, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a teacher by nature and profession. I love being creative and that is partly why I teach theatre. That's also why I love photography, refinishing furniture, decorating, cooking and so many other things. I've always had fun taking pictures and putting them together in scrapbooks. Recently I decided to try my hand at portrait photography and plan on turning it into a business. I love being able to learn new things and the library is always one of the first places I find when I move to a new location. I love cooking! Especially healthy foods and am always looking for fun new recipes. I also love working out. I love the outdoors from beaches to mountains. I enjoy hiking, snowboarding, biking, and running. I also enjoy being musical whether it's playing the piano, guitar, or singing. I'm married to my best friend and we've got a little boy that keeps us both on our toes. We love visiting Disney Theme parks whenever we get the chance. My favorite thing about being married is always having my best friend to do things with, confide in and share memories with, even if it's just sharing the work load around the house.

Why I am a Mormon

Knowing that there is a God and that he is invested in the details in our lives is something that gives me great peace. Also understanding that there is a plan for this life; that we lived with God before and that we can live with our families after this life gives this life meaning and purpose. I think as human beings we all realize that we are learning all throughout life. We also recognize that we are not perfect and that we make mistakes. I love knowing that Jesus Christ made it possible for us to not only be clean from our mistakes through repentance but enables us to become better than we thought we could. I was raised in a Mormon family, but through study, prayer, and the Holy Ghost have come to find out for myself that the things taught in this gospel are true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by praying and studying the scriptures (Bible, Book of Mormon) daily. I share what I learn with those around me. I currently teach children in our nursery (ages 2 - 3) on Sundays. I help them understand that they are children of God. I also am active in visiting others in the ward and enjoy the friendships that I have made through service. My husband and I also sing in our ward choir.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Bonnie
One of the greatest blessings we have is the opportunity to pray to our Heavenly Father (God). Through studying both the Bible and the Book of Mormon, attending church meetings, meeting with missionaries and other study you can learn a lot about the church and the core beliefs. As you are studying the way to know it is true is by asking God through prayer. God answers our prayers through the Holy Ghost - through feelings of peace, joy, happiness, confidence, reassurance, etc. As you pray and study and these feelings come you will be able to know for yourself that it is true. Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Bonnie
We follow what is called the Word of Wisdom. It discourages the use of coffee, tea, and alcohol as well as tobacco. It also encourages us to eat healthy - to eat grains, fruits and vegetables, and meat sparingly. It encourages us to use the many wonderful foods that God has given us to nourish our bodies. It is important to us to follow these commandments as it helps us to be healthy and to be always in control of our bodies, instead of letting another substance influence how we feel or function. This allows us to always be able to feel the guidance of the Holy Ghost in our lives as well. It also helps us to take care of our families and ensure they are healthy. When I recently found out I was pregnant I began reading about what foods were best and what to avoid. I did not have to make lifestyle changes because I already ate healthily and do not drink alcohol, coffee, or smoke. It was a great reassurance that God gives us commandments that are for our ultimate good. Show more Show less
