Hi I'm Maynard

I'm an engineer. I design integrated circuits. My chips are in millions of video devices and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I have three sons and a daughter. I've been a river guide, cleaned up after surgeons, worked on space science projects and developed jet flight control systems. I build video processing chips. I love science and hope to someday teach high school physics. I'm struggling to learn Russian. One of our children was adopted from Russia. I love the Russian people and the gift they gave us. I hope to return someday and visit.

Why I am a Mormon

I know our Heavenly Father loves us. We are His children. He wants us to return and live with Him. He knew that while we were here, we would make mistakes and fall short. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to provide the way for us to return. Through Christ we can be cleansed from sin. It is only through Christ that we can return to our Heavenly Father. Christ came to earth. He atoned for our sins. He died and broke the bonds of death. On the third day, He rose. He lives today! I have come to know that Christ teaches us through His servants the prophets. When we follow the prophet, we are happy. We can know prophetic teachings are true through the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost testifies of Christ. He helps us recognize truth. As we read the scriptures the Holy Ghost confirms to us gospel truths. Through the Holy Ghost, we can know for ourselves that the prophets words are true. This knowledge makes me happy and helps me in times of trial. Knowing I have a loving Father in Heaven helps me keep going and striving to do better. I know he hears our prayers. Knowing I am a child of God, teaches me I am of infinite worth. I know He cares.

How I live my faith

I love to serve in the Lord's house. It is a place of beauty and rest. I love the feeling that is found within. Everyone dresses up in white. There are no rich or poor. We are all just brothers and sisters.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Maynard
You can know through the Holy Ghost. If you read the Book of Mormon, ponder its messages, and then ask with a sincere heart and faith in Christ, the Holy Ghost will confirm to you that it is true. This promise can be found in the last book of the Book of Mormon: Moroni 10:3-5. If the Book of Mormon is true -- and I testify it is -- then the Church is true. I encourage you to apply this test!
