Hi I'm Wayne

Although I'm terrified of the ocean, I volunteer at the local aquarium. I'm a husband, dad and grandpa..and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a husband and father of 5 kids. Originally from the desert Southwest, I moved to Georgia to retain employment. We have 3 dogs, all of them "pound puppies". When not working one of several jobs, I enjoy volunteering at the local aquarium. I also love cooking (and the eating that goes along with it), sports of just about any sort, and love learning about history. I have several jobs, which just makes time with my family that much more special. When I was 19 I served a mission for the church in Denmark. I love that country and the people there. Some day I hope to go back and visit the people I love.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. Coming from early LDS pioneer ancestry, I grew up learning about their trials and their faith. This gave me a good foundation on which to build, however just like every other person I had to learn about the Gospel of Jesus Christ through personal experience and revelation. It wasn't easy. There were many years of wondering "Am I only doing this because my parents told me to?" and "Is it REALLY true?" It took me awhile, but I finally did learn for myself that it is true. The promised testimony did come... But not until I fully placed my trust in Heavenly Father and His son. Too much time wasted on frivilous concerns cause me at times to shake my head in embarressment, but it's all a learning process. As a child through my young adult life I believed, but now I can say I KNOW. What an awesome feeling that is.

How I live my faith

Being a member of the church is not a weekly thing. It's a 24 x 7, 365 day commitment. Naturally I go to church on Sundays, but the other 6 days I try to live my life in accordance with the teachings of Jesus Christ. Daily prayer and scripture study, loving my family and trying to serve others is the starting point for living my faith. I'm not perfect, but I'm trying. (My wife says at times, I'm very trying). Heavenly Father knows I'm not perfect and doesn't expect me to be. He does however expect me to be the best me I can be. So that's what I try to do. As far as serving in the church, I have done many things, I have been a scout leader, worked with the youth, worked with the missionaries in our area, taught Sunday School as well as other adult and youth classes.

What is the Church’s position on abortion?

Wayne
The church recognizes that life is sacred. As such, abortions should not be performed except under rare and very limited circumstances. (i.e. rape, life of the mother, etc.) Even then it should only be done after prayer and counselling with local priesthood authority. Show more Show less
