Hi I'm Rian

I grew up in Wyoming. I'm an artist, an architectural student, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a redneck from Wyoming. I grew up riding horses and working on the farm. I like to ride motocross and ATVs. I ride BMX and inline skating. I love me some country music. I love to draw, paint, any kind of art. That's why I am studying architecture. I love to build and create. I was a diesel mechanic for years and I've build a lot of houses. I am a college student. I am a husband, a newlywed.

Why I am a Mormon

While growing up I was not the best of kids. I was in trouble a lot. One time while doing something I wish I wasn't, something slapped me in the face....almost literally. I had to get out of there. It was an hour drive back to my home and it was 3 a.m. At the time I didn't know made me feel that way, I know now it was the Holy Ghost getting me out of a bad situation. I couldn't stop crying the whole way home. I needed help, but I didn't know where to get it. The very next day, my wonderful grandpa, who is a member of the church, came to me and said, "I think you need to read this," and he gave me a Book of Mormon. I had heard of it before, a lot actually, but I didn't know what it was about. I hate reading anything....always have.....but I decided I better do it. It took me 6 months to read it, but I finally got it read. I understood most of it, a surprisingly easy read, but none of it really caught my attention. I still had this feeling, though, that it was good. I told him I read it and also a friend of mine, who was my bishop, and he pointed out a scripture to me. Clear at the end of the book was a scripture: Moroni 10:4-5. He asked me if I tried the promise".......uh......what promise?" So he showed it to me, read it, and explained what it meant. That night I went home and I tried it. I read this scripture over and over again: "And when ye shall receive these things,I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true. And if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost, ye may know the truth of all things." It had a power that I couldn't explain. So I did what it said. I got down on my knees, and immediately prayed, "Father, these things which I have just read...are they true?" When I asked this, a bright light came from the corner of my eye and an incredible feeling came over me. Very intense feeling of love and a knowledge that I am a son of God. I knew it was true......as I know today. I had to tell people about this. A year later I served a mission and had the joyous opportunity to teach others about this wonderful book, and this wonderful church that bears the name of the Savior. This is his true church, something I never thought of before that day. The same church that was on the earth when Christ was on the earth.....the same church he set up then is here again, with all the blessings, knowledge, and miracles that existed then. As well as the authority that he gave to his apostles. It is here. It is available to us. And everyone has access to it. You just need to ask the Father if it is right....then you can know for yourself. Just as I and millions of others do.

How I live my faith

I have a couple responsibilities. One, and to me the most important one, is home teaching. At least once a month, me and a buddy of mine go to a couple different families and visit with them. See how they are, what we can do to maybe help them in any way, and then we share with them a message out of the Bible, Book of Mormon, or other scriptures. I love it because it gives me the opportunity to share what I know to be true.

Can husband and wife be together forever? Do you believe that families will live together in heaven?

When our Father in Heaven put us on this earth, he put most of us in families. Those who are not in families wish they were. Those who are not in happy families wish they were. When they do find this family, or start out in it, they are happy and they love these people they call their family very, very much. When I met my wife, I knew she was the one for me. I love her more than anything in this world and I would do ANYTHING for her. Anyone who has kids I'm sure feel the same way. I want to be with my wife forever, not just till I die. If God is a loving Father in Heaven, why would he take us from those families in heaven....the very ones that he put us in? Through the authority that Jesus Christ gave to Peter and the rest of his apostles, "the keys of the kingdom, that whatsoever though shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven.." The keys of the kingdom where restored to the earth today, and now we can live with our families, whom we love so much, for time AND all eternity. Show more Show less
