Hi I'm Jim

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Dayton, Ohio and grew up in Darke County (Gettysburg and Greenville, Ohio). I joined the Air Force after high school and spent almost my entire enlistment at Lackland Airforce Base in San Antonio, Texas. I married my dear sweet wife whom I had met in California in February of 1967 while still in the Air Force. In 1968 we attended the "Hemisfair" in San Antonio and while there we saw "Man's Search for Happiness" at the LDS presentation. Although I really didn't have much interest in things religious my wife wanted to learn more so we watched this short video - I was really impressed by the message. Over the following years we moved a number of times and when we moved to California it was but a short time and the missionaries arrived at our door - the gospel was taught to us and the truthfulness of the message was made known to us by the Holy Spirit - many years have passed since then and we now live in a small town in north central Arkansas and attend the Ash Flat Branch.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a "Mormon" because I believe with all my being in the messages and lessons that are taught through the scriptures (Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price as well as the teachings of modern day prophets). I also believe that our Heavenly Father wants all of us (every person who has ever lived, who now lives and who will yet live) to be of one mind (to all be on the same page as it were). How can we be of one mind when there are so many different denominations and sects? I believe one way is through the guidance of prophets and other leaders who have been called of God through revealation to teach the Gospel. Also, I believe that we can know this through the "Holy Ghost" communicating to us the truth. I have this testimony that God lives and His Son, Jesus Christ is the head of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day-Saints and that he has restored the Gospel in its fullness and has called prophets to guide and direct His church.

How I live my faith

I do not admit to being perfect but I try each day to be better than the day before. I study the scriptures to learn how to be more like my Savior, Jesus Christ. I pray to Heavenly Father to enlighten me and to help me overcome my faults and weaknesses and that I might know His will. I strive to do all that I have learned is required of me so that I might better serve Him.
