Hi I'm Alan Smoot

I have lived in UT, MO, KS, and NE. I love technology, racquetball, biking, horse back riding. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love my family and have 5 kids. Three of them are married. I have 4 grandkids and all of them are from my oldest daughter. It is fun to be a grandpa. I have a 5 grandkid on the way from my 3rd child and second daughter. I love the outdoors. I own 3 horses and enjoy trail riding in the mountains. Fall and Spring are my favorite times to ride. I especially enjoy seeing wildlife while out riding. I love having individual time with my kids while out riding. I also am a computer geek and love both computers and mobile devices. My job is managing iOS and Android developers. Some of the smartest guys I know and I really enjoy working with them. We are building Family Tree and Memories apps for FamilySearch. I spend a lot of time with my own family tree and really enjoy doing genealogy.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church and had a family that went regularly. As I got older I had to make a decision of whether I really believed that things that I have been taught. I had to learn for myself whether I believed everything mormons taught. It was not any one moment but many moments that I have felt the spirit testify to me that what I have learned is really true. I have had many spiritual experiences that have made very deep impressions on my heart that have confirmed that Jesus really has restored his Church to the earth after it had been lost when he and his apostles were killed. What a great feeling it is to know that his Church is here on the earth today. I love it.

How I live my faith

I am very involved with my Church and currently am a High Priest Group Leader. I get to help others in our congregation do their family history and it is an awesome experience. There are many opportunities for community service and I love being involved. This week I get to help build small play cars for a humanitarian organization and get to do that with many of the members of our congregation.
