Hi I'm Laura.

I grew up in Eugene,Oregon. I love to run. I'm the ninth child of fourteen. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a first year Master of Public Administration student. I am the ninth child of fourteen in my family. I love my family! I served an 18 month mission for my church in Peru a couple of years ago and I love to speak Spanish. In my spare time I love to run and to be outside.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have a testimony of the Book of Mormon. I know that this book is true. I have read it, pondered it, and prayed about it, asking God if it is true. I know that God answers prayers and that he wants us to have all of his Gospel and his blessings. Through faith, I have received testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. The Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ brings me so much happiness, direction, and purpose in my life. Because of it I know why I'm here, what I need to do to be happy and to feel closer to God, and how I can be with my family forever.

How I live my faith

Every Sunday I have the opportunity to worship God at church and to learn about the Savior and his role in our lives. I love to go to church because I feel God's love for me and I learn about his teachings and how I can keep his commandments. Applying these teachings throughout the week helps me to be happy and recognize God's hand in my life. Once a month, I am asked to teach a class for all of the women in my congregation (18 years and older). I love to teach and discuss principles of the Gospel with these women, principles such as faith, repentance, baptism, and the Holy Ghost. We study the scriptures including the Old Testament, New Testament and the Book of Mormon. I also team up with another woman in my congregation at least once a month to visit two women from church. We share a message with these women from our prophet and help them with anything they might need. I am also visited monthly by two women in my church congregation. Through these interactions, we have become great friends and it really helps me to know that I have a church family even though I am far away from my immediate family while I'm at college. One of the aspects that I like best about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is how it focuses on applying Christs teachings every day through service. I enjoy serving in my church and in my community and striving to live my life every day as Jesus Christ would want me to. It brings me great fulfillment. The application of Christ's scriptural teachings and the words of the prophets has become a central part of my life's purpose.
