Hi I'm Melissa

I'm a 911 dispatcher and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been a 911 dispatcher for 18 years. I am the mother of one son (who is now grown) and was a single parent for most of his life. I love to take road trips. I can't remember a day when I haven't found something to laugh about.

Why I am a Mormon

My mother joined the church when I was very young. My father was not a member, but allowed my sister and I to attend church with her. Because of this, there was never a time when I did not know that I had a Father in Heaven who loved and watched over me. There was a short time as a young adult that I stopped attending church, thinking if I ignored the truth, the boundaries the Lord sets for his children, would not apply to me. I learned that while we choose our behavior, truth is constant and does not change. As Alma says in the Book of Mormon, "Wickedness never was happiness" I felt very lost during this time. I began attending church , and opened up my heart again to feel the spirit. Christ's atonement continues to work its miracle every day of my life. I am continually amazed at it's healing power. It may sound cliche, but the best way to describe how I feel is that my heart is full. I just wish everyone knew how much they are loved. I feel compelled to share it with everyone I can.

How I live my faith

My erratic work schedule requires some creativity in finding ways to serve in church and my community. I share my testimony with others when possible. I look for ways I can lift others up and try to find little opportunities to help others.
