Hi I'm James

I'm a college student, working for the summer, trying to find the way.

About Me

Been going to school in Salt Lake City, going home to work for the summer. Grateful for the people that make my life interesting. I want to do some good.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I feel like I'm a bigger part of my family now. I know that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ I can become something. I love being able to learn more about my own duty to God. All of it points to happiness in this life and eternal life with my family. Sure helps to have a living prophet of God to follow. It is the only way families can be together forever.

How I live my faith

In the morning I get on the floor so I can offer morning prayer, I find myself looking for the spiritual side of whatever I can. I'm learning about insurance and finding more ways to get involved around Salt Lake City. I have a handful of great acquaintances with whom I participate in group activities specific to our environment. Every Sunday I participate in a Sacrament meeting in which I renew my covenants with my Heavenly Father. On Saturday mornings I have the privilege of working in the Salt Lake Temple Baptistry. When I am there, I can feel the Spirit stronger than at any other times. It's a great place to be, and I love being there. I've been blessed to have recently graduated from school and am now working as an insurance agent. My family was blessed to get help during the aftermath of my dad's death due to the insurance benefits that were available to us. I asked God to help me find work where I can start helping people and one day I was directed by my heart to an area where I found the kind of work that I was looking for. I'm gladly looking forward to moving forward with this same opportunity in my life. I'm loving my family and looking forward to when We are going to be all together again. I love studying the Holy Scriptures and offering up my prayers towards Heaven. I am not the most popular homebody around, and I don't always understand everything, but I am feeling my way more towards where I really want to be.

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

James
God does not accept that which He has not appointed, for the simple fact that if it's not of Him, it's of something else. His Kingdom is governed by laws that are as unchangeable as He is. If a person wishes their baptism to be valid, it must be done by the authority that God has delegated to His appointed representatives. Many claim this divine priveledge, yet it can literally only be conferred on a worthy individual by the laying on of hands by those in authority. If such were not the case then God would not be very orderly. Priesthood holders in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day saints, trace their authority back to Jesus Christ in an unbroken chain of ordinations(the method used to confer the priesthood by the laying on of hands). Just as one would not accept a traffic ticket from an ice cream man(on account of him not having legitimate authority) one should not accept baptism by one that does not have the authority from God, it does not have the power to save anyone in such a case. What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

James
Missionaries teach about God and some of His eternal purposes. They teach about how Christ's church was lost and how it has been restored. They can help people understand the scriptures. They teach the plan of Salvation, it answers life's greatest questions. They can help people make covenants with God, which will lead them to eternal life. Show more Show less

What is the First Vision?

James
The first vision gets it's name because it was an experience that Joseph Smith had in which he Saw God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ, it ushered in the dipensation of the fullness of times and initiated what the Lord calls, "a marvelous work and a wonder" or in other words, the restoration of all things. It was in fact Joseph's first heavenly visitation, it happened on the morning of a sring day in 1820, and came as a result to Joseph's humble prayer to know which church he should join. It happened in a rural area near Manchester, Ontario county, New York. Jesus Christ told him that the fullness of the Gospel was about to be restored to the earth. Show more Show less
