Hi I'm Amy

Halloween makes me happy. I'm an artist. I love my family. And I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I love the simple things in life; a hug from my nephew or nieces completely brightens my day! I love the way my dog smells, it's familiar and it's pure love when he looks at me with those puppy eyes. I love my mom's key lime pie! That and a cream soda make a perfect summer day. I love spending time with friends and family and playing Mexi Train at the neighbor's. I love to work with my hands to create beauty out of raw materials, I'm constantly working on a "project". It's how I fill my free time that really makes me happy and defines who I see myself as. I love learning, it keeps my mind active. I love to explore the world around me and travel as often as funds and time permit. I love meeting people from all walks of life, I love what I can learn from others experiences. When I'm not at work or school, I'm filling every moment with those I love, because that is what lasts. That is what I take with me in the eternities, the knowledge I've gained through life experiences, and most important to me -- the relationships, bonds and love I have with my family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

Simply, I'm a Mormon because nothing else has brought such peace and happiness into my life, and I looked in all sorts of places for a number of years. After reading the Book of Mormon for the first time in my life, cover to cover, at age 30, and asking my Heavenly Father if it was really true, I recieved an answer that filled my soul with light. I felt surrounded by arms of love and warmth and a clarity for my life filled my mind. Those feelings can only come from God. So I knew it was true. I knew it was true in my heart and in my mind at the same time. That changed everything. Since that time I've made changes in my life and never looked back. I love the reassurance from heaven that my family can be together forever. Heaven wouldn't be heaven without my family. That's why I'm a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I live my faith simply, by obeying God's laws. It's not always easy but I've found it is always worth it. It's way better than the consequences of not obeying God's laws, I know from experience, lesson learned! I live my faith by doing little things each day to keep me on course: scripture study, prayer, serving other people as the Savior would, and attending church meetings regularly. Currently I'm living my faith by serving a full time mission! After coming to a real understanding and knowledge of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, restored in these last days, and how that has changed my life, I had to share it with as many people who would listen and take the same challenge to find out for themselves if it is true. I know from personal experience how much joy can be brought to your life by following the teachings and example of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Amy
We believe we are saved by grace, after all we can do. (2 Nephi 25:23) Basically we believe that since none of us have the ability on our own merits to live a perfect life we need His saving grace. But that doesn't mean we can just go "live it up" and deliberately sin or even just be super lazy about living what Christ taught. What would be the point of Christ teaching us His gospel and the commandments of God if we were never really expected to live it to be saved? We have to do the best we can to live what Christ taught and we rely on His mercy and grace to make up for the times we don't do it so well. After all, it was Him alone who paid the price for our sins. He's done His part, now we have to do ours. It goes both ways. Show more Show less
