Hi I'm Quinn

I am a comic book writer, host of an entertainment and education podcast, and, you guessed it, I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I grew up in Idaho and Utah, lived in Georgia for five years (two as a missionary, three attending the Savannah College of Art and Design), and currently live back in Utah where I work as a freelance comic book writer. I've always loved art, reading, movies, video games, and just having fun with my friends. I also love collecting music and am always on the lookout for new artists to enjoy. I love joking around and have been told by a few different friends that I should be a stand-up comedian...but it's more fun to be funny when you don't have to be! :)

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have learned for myself, by a personal witness from God, that He lives and that He has restored His gospel in our time. As I grew up my good parents taught me the gospel of Jesus Christ, and this awakened in me a great desire to learn the truth of these principles for myself. Through study of the scriptures, including the Bible and the Book of Mormon, and also through prayer and simply living the teachings of Christ, I have come to know that God lives, that He truly has a plan for our joy in this life and our eternal salvation, and that He is aware of me. To feel His presence in my life and to feel His forgiveness when I sincerely repent of my mistakes is a strength I can't imagine being without.

How I live my faith

I strive to serve others. One of the great blessings of membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is that I get to visit with a few members of my congregation every month and make sure their spiritual and physical needs are being met. I love this responsibility and the friendships I have with these individuals. I volunteer at the temple in Salt Lake City and love this opportunity to ponder the gospel of Jesus Christ and feel His presence more fully in that sacred building. I also put together my congregation's newsletter every month and get to work with my friends and leaders in putting together uplifting messages. I love these opportunities to serve--I really feel like I'm the one that benefits the most.

What do Mormons believe about "eternal life?"

Quinn
We believe that our time in this life is only one part of a great plan our Heavenly Father has for us. We actually lived as spirits with God and Jesus Christ before this mortal life, learning from them and growing spiritually. As part of God's plan for us to be more like Him and have a fullness of joy, we agreed to be born into mortal bodies on this Earth where we could experience the joys and challenges necessary to our further growth. As part of this experience, the memory of our life before mortality was taken away, so that we could learn to live by faith, to be tested as to whether or not we'd continue to strive to follow the Savior even when not in His presence. The promise is that if we are true and faithful, we will eventually return to God's presence, having been sanctified by the grace of Christ, and if we live by all of God's teachings, we will also be united with our families for all eternity. I know that my greatest joy comes from my relationship with my parents and brothers and sisters, and I look forward to spending eternity with them. Show more Show less
