Hi I'm Tom

I found a principle, a path a promise and a perseverance. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Although I am originally from England, I'm currently a full time missionary serving in the Australia Perth Mission. I joined the church two years ago after I met missionaries, after listening to what they had to say I went to the lord and through the power of his spirit I received a spiritual witness of it's truth. The church has had a massive positive influence in my life and helped me in many ways and by faith in the restored gospel of Jesus Christ I have been guided through many trials and challenges. When I first joined the church I actually did not want to serve a mission, but by the power of the Holy Ghost my mind was changed and I sought the serve the lord. Thus I am now labouring in the Perth mission and seeking those who wish to receive the message of Christ and whoever receives it receives the blessings and the promises of the father as they seek to accept it and act upon it.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know this church to be the only true and restored Church of Jesus Christ. I was never convinced by the beliefs of any other faith and never eager to buy them or even show a glance of interest towards them. But I read the Book of Mormon and I studied it hard and then I came to understand that it was truly the word of God and the greatest testimony and the witness of Jesus Christ the entire world has ever seen and all who read it fairly with a sincere heart will also come to know these things. The Book of Mormon and the story of Joseph Smith are the only ever things which could ever have convinced me to believe in and follow Jesus Christ. A real man who lived and walked this earth, sacraficing his life for mankind so that we may be redeemed. This is the message of the Book of Mormon, that Jesus is the Christ and that through his atonement the reward of eternal life is open to all whom accept him as their saviour and seek to keep his commandments following his example. I hold no shame in my faith, without it I could not say I would be the person I am today.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following the commandments and guidelines issued by the Lord, whilst having faith and humility in his name. I attend Church each sunday, where I participate in Elders Quorum, Sunday School and then the Sacrament service. I have enjoyed for the past year, attending local and regional youth activities where I have made and became close to many likeminded friends. With my faith I strive to each day to follow the example and teaching of Jesus Christ. Although I nor anyone else can be perfect, it has blessed my life and allowed me to see things with a better and more spiritual outlook. If I did not have such things, then I would find little happiness in life without the comfort and blessings it has provided.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith was a young American who strived for a greater understanding of Jesus Christ and the truth of God. Having been raised a Christian, and lost in the frenzy of many numerous and conflicting denominations, at the age of 14 Joseph Smith went to pray in a grove of trees and became the subject of the greatest miracle in modern history, the first vision.. a true and literal appearance of God the Father and his son Jesus Christ. Years after, Joseph Smith went on to translate the Book of Mormon, a sacred and powerful extra witness of Jesus Christ and a History of the native people's of America. He was then instructed and guided by the lord into restoring his Church on the Earth, along with the priesthood authority which had been lost millenia ago. Joseph Smith was persecuted and attacked heavily for his beliefs and deeds, he was imprisoned numerous times and was eventually martyred for his Holy Work before even reaching 40.. He nonetheless, is remembered today as the Prophet of the Restoration, a man who communed with God and restored the fullness of the gospel to planet Earth. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

The bible is the word of God, a testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ and the events which led and prepared the world for his coming. However, the bible is a text with many variations and one that has had numerous alterations throughout its History. Missing books, content and translation errors are all concerns which scholars have raised about it throughout History. Nonetheless, the bible is still Holy scripture and regarded by us Mormons as the word of God? Why, because the Book of Mormon has stood strong in proving how the events of the bible were real and were indeed true. The Book of Mormon testifies of the Bible and predicts its coming into the world. Whilst the Bible also testifies and tells of the coming of the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon and the Bible go together in one hand, to show and tell the world of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
