Hi I'm Jeff

My name is Jeff, I grew up in Salt Lake City. Am a friend to many and love life! And I am a Mormon!

About Me

My name is Jeff, I am a husband to an amazing wife, Son to loving parents and sibling to eight hilarious, fun crazy siblings. I am a student I love to learn and to explore. I like to talk and to be heard. I love people, I like to tell and hear stories! I think that each of us have our own story to tell. My older brothers are both from liberia africa both amazing men. I love people, and have had, through my brothers the opportunity to serve some of the people in the liberian community here In Salt Lake City. I have loved learning and being part of their diverse culture. I love to go dancing, to eat their food and to just be with them. They all have big hearts and it is easy to fall in love with all of them. You feel immediately at home because they saw you as a friend. I recently had the opportunity to travel back to Kenya africa to help build schools for the orphaned children in the slums of Nairobi. I there learned that we must live and do our best, and that when times get tuff Hakuna Matata, God will take care of us. I love the people of africa, I am a world traveler, I am 22 and I am a Mormon!

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? I am , I think fourth generation mormon, I Was born to some pretty amazing parents both active members of our faith. For those that are not members of our faith or that are not familiar with our faith, we, as mormons are taught the stories of the scriptures from the moment we enter this life. We learn who we are and where we came from and why we are here. By singing songs like I am a child of God or I hope they call me on a mission the doctrine and beliefs of our faith are instilled in us even as little children, just as in most faiths. Most know and understand that as a member of the church at eight you are baptized and receive the gift of the holy ghost, we believe that the holy ghost is a companion to help guide and direct us, but only as we are worthy of his presence. Throughout our teens and young adult life we are taught basic doctrine and gospel principles, we have the opportunity to each week come together with lots of youth to serve, learn, and to have fun and spiritual experiences. In the scriptures God tells us to seek him, Ask and yea shall receive, Seek and yea shall find, Knock and it shall be opened unto you. So as little children we are taught to pray to commune, and to speak to our Heavenly Father. Throughout our life we seek through prayer to find the truth,To know if we Are doing what God asks of us, to know if what we are taught is true. I Similarly have searched pondered and prayed about the reality and truth of Jesus Christ as my Savior, Joseph Smith as a prophet of God, and the Book of Mormon As scripture and further instruction to us from our Father in Heaven. I Since I could remember have Known that I had a loving Father in heaven and knew that if I asked He would tell me the truth, I son came to know that Through a modern day prophet Joseph Smith The Book of Mormon Another Testament of Jesus Christ, modern day scripture was revealed and translated and that We have a living prophet today. I know that God speaks through his prophets today to council and warn us. So I guess to answer the question, I am a Mormon because I now all of these things, because I was taught and then received answers to my prayers and I understand that it is true that Christ lives and his gospel has been restored in its fullness to the earth today.

How I live my faith

I believe that there are thousands of us in the world and that each of us finds direction in different ways. For me I love sports and the outdoors I love to feel free, I love to find and gain direction from others I love to hear about their life and seek truth in the choices they have made. I believe that each of us has different talents, personalities and character flaws we are unique and very individual. I believe in divine potential, or in the innate and endless possibilities each of us holds within ourselves because of our divine parentage. If we look at our world today we look at the amazing scholars that have gone before us, we look at some of the things great minds of the past have created, discovered or built, all denote that we are created and even are children of that most high God in heaven. Albert Einstein, the greatest known mind of his time and still one of the most highly recognized scientists of known history, recognized from the detail and intricacy to the simple nature of this world and the origins of life, all things must have been created by a higher power. Abraham Lincoln, a leader of the world’s super power and inspiration to mankind, understood that our trust and loyalty must be given to God. “We trust, sir, that God is on our side. It is more important to know that we are on God’s side.” I believe that we have possibilities that are endless; I believe that as children of God we have within us the power to accomplish all great things. That each of us has the chance to become more than the world would have us believe. In the perspective of just one human, I find life and our role in life don’t seem to change much. Each of us are different, no two people are the same or have the same opportunities in life. I find that each of us seems to find our niche and live only to fulfill our role or to the potential that the world sets for us. Not too much more can be said, often I see people just live to die and return to him that created us, when so often we forget, and most times don’t realize that we are not accomplishing all we were intended to! I have always been taught to work hard and shoot for the stars, to do my best and give it my all. My mother has a favorite quote that I became attached to and try to live by “Our deepest Fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are more powerful beyond measure. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually who are you not to be? Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. And as we let our light so shine, we unconsciously give other permission to do the same.” We have been given this lifetime to seek higher and better. We were allotted this mortal probation to help us discover who we really are. I believe that we are Gods own sons and daughters, and that he loves us and is waiting for us to find him within ourselves. I live my faith by making me better today than I was yesterday, I make myself better by seeking to live the saviors way!

What is faith?

Jeff
Faith is by definition is: 1. A hope for things that are not seen, but which are true and must be centered on Jesus Christ in order to produce salvation. To have faith is to have confidence in someone or something. (BD669) 2. A Principle of Action and of Power, and by it one can command the elements and/or heal the sick or influence any number of circumstances when occasion warrants. True faith will always move its professor to some kind of physical and mental action. (BD670) The Lord Jesus Christ has revealed himself and his perfect character, possessing in their fullness all the attributes of love, knowledge, justice, mercy, unchangeableness, power, and every other needful thing, so as to enable the mind of man to place confidence in him without reservation. My faith is knowledge that Jesus Christ is our Savior, and so I try each day to do the best I can to serve him in all that I do. Show more Show less
