Hi I'm Ben

Born and raised in California. I like to play the guitar and speak Chinese. I love my family and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for two years to my awesome wife. We have a baby boy and he's super fun. I like to have fun. I like to play the guitar and beach volleyball. I like to learn. I graduated with a degree in business management. I like to teach. I teach my wife Chinese. I love to speak Chinese. We attend church services in a Mandarin-speaking congregation. I work hard to reach my goals. Someday, I would love to live in China, do international business, and maybe start a charity foundation to help people.

Why I am a Mormon

Both my parents are Mormon. They taught me at an early age to pray, study the words of the prophets, and follow the Lord. I am so grateful for their guidance. I learned how to receive answers on my own answers to big questions in life. I am grateful for the environment that they created to help facilitate my very own search for truth. I am a Mormon, however, not because my parents forced me to grow up that way, but because I have received my own assurance that the teachings contained in this church are true. I am Mormon because I have prayed to God, the creator and father of us all, and have received multiple and continuous confirmations that this is his true and living church on the earth. He guides it. I know that. God loves all his children and wants them to be happy. True happiness is found when we accept and act on truth. This church contains the truth, untainted and pure, taught from the source of all truth, God himself, through a modern-day prophet. I hope I don't sound arrogant or ignorant. The reason I served a voluntary full-time proselyting mission for the church in West Malaysia for two years was to share what I have felt and learned with those that are searching for more to life. I know that if we honestly want to find God and his teachings in their fullness, then we will find it here in this church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is the way to an abundant life. It is the way to overcome our mistakes and be freed of guilt and pain. It is the way to receive real joy in this life and everlasting happiness in the next. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try to be an example of Christ every day do what he would do if he were here. I'm not the best at it, but I try. I like to smile and help make people feel good about themselves. I speak Mandarin Chinese and my wife and I attend church at a Mandarin-speaking service. It is fulfilling to use a talent to help others learn gospel principles, understand the lessons through my translation, and help share my feelings with the Chinese people in their own language. I look forward to Sundays. I am grateful for the organization and programs of the church. Each member/family of the church has another member assigned to them, making sure everyone is accounted for. I believe in helping one another out, and this system of the church allows for it. The church, its teachings and the values it stands for, mean everything to me. I am not perfect, but strive to live my life in accordance to these principles.

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a book that contains the writings of many prophets that lived in ancient America before, during, and after the time of Christ's mortal ministry. Mormon is the name of the prophet who compiled the different records together. This is where the term "Mormon" comes from. We believe both the Book of Mormon AND the Bible to be the word of God. We read and study both. It is pretty miraculous to think that the Bible contains so much of the life of Christ and his teachings considering the translations that took place through the ages by men, some good and some not so much, who were not prophets. The Book of Mormon is special however, because the record was translated only once, and it was done by a prophet called of God given the power of God to do it Joseph Smith. Don't be skeptical about the Book of Mormon because of what you may have heard. Read it and sincerely study it. If you pray and ask God to confirm the book's truth, He will let you know by His Spirit. You will feel and know it is true. Show more Show less
