Hi I'm Joe

I'm a Mormon

About Me

I decided I needed to update my Mormon.org profile, seeing as how a year has passed since its creation. Last year I was serving an LDS mission in St. Louis Missouri, and have never had a better experience. Currently I go to a University and study Political Science. I enjoy learning about people, and how they cooperate, govern, aspire, etc. I work at a Bakery to pay for my schooling, which definitely has its perks. I am the youngest of a family of 8. I enjoy sports, and it would be too easy to get wrapped up in them, however I do try to keep a healthy balance of sports in my free time. I have a lot of ambition, and am learning how much work high ambition demands. I love life, and wish we could all slow down once and a while and enjoy it a little more. I have faith in Christ, and believe if I live the type of life Christ showed, than I will find peace and happiness. So far this principle has proven itself correct, so naturally I plan on living the rest of my life by it. Life really is good.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have felt Gods confirmation that this is the church I am to be a part of and that this is the gospel that I am to live. All I see are blessings from living this gospel. Through my consistently living the Gospel of Jesus Christ I have seen from experience that the future will only bring more happiness.

How I live my faith

I find it difficult to describe a broad way in which I live my faith. I would say I live my faith by doing the little things each day. I go to church on Sundays, pray, read scriptures, and try to live what I learn from the following sources. I am working on treating others the way God treats me. Regardless of how I am living my faith, it will always require effort and sacrifice. Our busy world doesn't make it easy to slow down and take time to read scriptures everyday, or go to church, but it is definitely worth it.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

It is actually quite simple. We are told in James chapter 1verse 5 which is found in the New Testament that God will answer anybody who prays to him. We invite everybody to read the Book of Mormon, learn about Joseph Smith, learn about our current Prophet and our church. If you take time to learn and study about these principles and ask God in prayer if they are true, than you can have peace and assurance knowing that he will answer that prayer. Isn't that nice to know? My answer came when it was quiet and I was listening in my heart and mind. I know that God will answer your prayers because he answers mine.  Show more Show less

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

Gordon B. Hinckley, prior President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, said: “[People] see in this Church an anchor in a world of shifting values. The family is falling apart in America and across the world. We are putting strong emphasis on the family. It is appealing to people. They like it. They welcome it. They need help and we offer that help. “Furthermore, it gives purpose to life.... We answer the old questions of Where did I come from? Why am I here? Where am I going? These great religious questions have been asked by men throughout the ages. We give them an assurance of who they are, sons and daughters of God. I am a child of God. We have a song that says that. We believe it. It is a fact with us. People find comfort. They find peace. They find strength in that. “And in the organization they find sociability. They find friends. We are a very friendly Church. We are a very happy Church. We are a happy, go ahead people, and others like it.” Show more Show less
